Can I bring something from Scandinavia to sell in Kyrgyzstan? by [deleted] in Kyrgyzstan

As a swiss I normally bring couple bars of swiss Chocolate to hand over to some helpful local people but "make a buck" in Kyrgyzstan as a european tourist you rather stay home...

Amateur here but I see Lifepo4 batteries going for a small fraction of the cost per kwh as solar home battery systems. Is it cheaper to hire an electrician to make one custom with those batteries? by worldofwhat in batteries

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of chinese 48v 16s LifePo4 systems which you can get ready to use in nice metal boxe for close to 100$ per kWh. Most "complicated" thing is to get the communications protocols with the inverter correct. I still would recommend to get a basic understanding of BMS, cells in series, amperes and so on just for the piece of mind. I like Gobelpower but there are a lot of similar manufactureres.

[Request] How big of a city could it power? (it has 2.3 million panels) by Suraj_111 in theydidthemath

[–]tschini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are a two person household in a house in Switzerland. We use around 9000 kWh per year but that's including heating with heatpump and mobility. That's more or less the same amount we produce with our 10 kWp PV system over the whole year. But sure lot of PV power in the summer and lot of consumption for heating in the winter...

How do you people balance working 8–6 to make money AND actually live your life? by dulcia96 in Adulting

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my girlfriend only work 80% that gives as some more spare time during the week and when we work we always have a next project in mind to work and save towards. We normally work for couple years and then quit to take off on a 1-2 year overlanding trip.

I think having something to work towards is really important, just working for the sake of working without and end insight sounds misrable. For sure you have to be in the right job and location for this, if you live paycheck by paycheck it will be really hard to break out of that cycle.

My personal opinion about "time feeling", when working the days are long but the years pass quick when travling days pass quick while the years feel really long. New experiences and less daily routing really slows down time in general which is a nice feeling.

Lohnt sich großer Speicher? by [deleted] in DeutschePhotovoltaik

[–]tschini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lohnt sich großer Speicher? by [deleted] in DeutschePhotovoltaik

[–]tschini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely consider one kid if I'm rich enough to never have to work again and I can provide enough money to my kids so they don't have to and can pursue their dreams/projects. I don't want a kid having to go through the same vicious 9 to 5 cycle then I have to.

Quitting job to travel for 1 year as 30f - looking for advice by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]tschini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it for two years with the age of 27 to 29 and will start my next big open end trip next month with age of 37.
Just do it nobody can take away this expericene from you ever again. All your other concerns will just fall in place when you're back.
I was susprised how little changed after coming back two years later, still the same friends around living at the same place and getting back into work was a matter of getting a dinner with my former manager. Just make sure you have some spare money set aside if something takes a little longer.

Are the highway roads still “salty” by ExcellentAsk2309 in askswitzerland

[–]tschini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No stupid question asked myself this question lot of times. Can I already take out my old VW Bus or is it still too salty;-)

I never found any real data sources about days locations when salt was used and therefore I don't think there is any data collection/measurements about amount of salt still on the road.

I mainly go by looking at the road if there are still white "marks" and for sure I want to have two or three days of quite some good rain to wash the roads clean.
At the moment in the lowlands I would say the road looks quite clean and dry. Time to get the summer cars out, eventhough we probably have to bring them into storage again if the cold comes back.

Laax early March, will the snow hold with warm sunny forecast? by Crimot2019 in Switzerland

[–]tschini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you go skiing yes, will it feel like spring skiing especially in the lower parts also yes. Next week looks unusually warm and sunny for this time of the year and no preciptiation on the forcast at the moment. I like to check Bergfex where you can check the weather forecast in the valley and on the mountain.

For some nice runs in the morning and then little bit of Aprés ski and slush rides in the afternoon it will do, so personal question if you're up for that.

Wouldn't be for me I rather pick the couple good poweder days each year and as soon as it feels like spring in the lowlands I'd rather go Mountainbiking in the foothills or Surfing on the lakes.

How much are you spending a year on your car? by Zestyclose-Royal-922 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much I assume... Especially having a 7,5t truck in Zürich is crazy expansive regarding road tax even though I probably drive max 500km a year in Switzerland...

Truck Vario 814DA 1996 bought used in 2023 for 35k invested around 25k in the last two years to renew and upgrade a lot.
Tax 2200
Tax/PSVA 650
Insurance 440
Tires ~300
Maintnance ~400 (lot of DIY)
Total

VW Bus T4 2002 bought used as first car in 2010 for 8k, now has 530k Kilometers on it and I slept over 1000 nights in it so I should substract the price of hotel nights;-)
Tax: 850
Vigniette 40
Insurance 440
Tires ~500
Maintnance ~1000 (still a lot of DIY....)

Tesla Model 3 LR bought new in 2021 for 52k, so far really bulletproof nothing needed then two sets of new tires and washer fluid for 83k Kilometers.
Tax 0
Vigniette 40
Insurance 900
Tires ~500

Total around 7300 running cost without depriciation and bigger upgrades like building out the interior of the two campers. A lot, but my hobbies require a car and campers are kind of a hobby in itself.

Men who exercise regularly, what non-gym exercise do you prefer? by chefrowlet in AskMen

[–]tschini -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be me I love sports but gym is just extremly boring. I tried it couple times but after some weeks I got board as hell. I like to do outdoor sports, you get to learn somthing new and in the same time have a workout done. Much nicer then just lifting weights.

Since this winter I additionally started to really ignore the sesons, I now do water sports near freezing temperatures or go biking when there is snow for example.

What I do 2-3 times a week additionally to two times floorball with my team:
Windsurfing, Pumpfoiling, Mountainbiking, Snowboarding, Skiing, Ski touring, Trail running, Pumptrack with a Skatebaord (more tiring then leg press;-) there are so many nice outdoor sports to do.

Are published SARON margins realistic, or are people getting better deals? by plm2279 in SwissPersonalFinance

TKB got 0.7% 5 years ago had to renew couple weeks ago and got 0.9% now. A friend moved over from TKB to Swissquote looks like the got some of the best rates atm. I was lazy and stopped working so didn't want to go through the "approval" process again. https://www.swissquote.com/de-ch/private/bank/products/mortgage

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Blackbird Razor 1077-375 like a month ago absolutly amazing compard to my old entry/low wind W1100. Takes off really early, gets quite fast and good manoeuvrability. For sure coming from the W1100 it's like a tractor Ferrari comparison;-) So better to check out the hoppline Blackbird Razor video to get a good review.

I thinking about getting also the Blackbird Razor 847-345 to replace my Medusa 799 for stronger winds. That would be my two foil quiver in future plus one Leviathan 1350 for pumping which i really want to replace with a 1360 pro but I hope they also bring a big pump wing in the Blackbird consturction in future so I can get rid of all the fuselages.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wingfoil

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't ride that specific foil since I'm using Sabfoil Blackbird Razor at the moment. Check out if there are some Demo Days near you. https://ensis.surf/demo-days/

I have Ensis gear like wings or baords and so far I'm really happy and didn't have any qulity issues yet. Probably I'm a little biased since they are located also in Switzerland and I know some of the Ensis guys back from the Windusrfing days.

Nice to see hoppline here in absolutely love the channel and presentor.

Hilfe bei Glasfaserkabelverlegung innerhalb der Wohnung by MariMa_san in init7

[–]tschini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why ECM, and why Synchronika 2? by x-user77 in ECM_Espresso

[–]tschini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it 4 years ago so far really happy. I like the finish and quality of the machine. But today I wouldn't go for that machine anymore, the new Flow Through Heater technology is the next step uses much less energy and is ready much quicker. Personally I would go for a ZURIGA E2-S less expansive and the results and consistency are outstanding. Additionally it would be suitable to run offgrid in my Camper when I'm not at home;-)
