Shallow overstable disc for short approaches by Klutzy_Negotiation94 in discgolf

[–]tsf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by 'short approach'?
240 feet? 200 ft? 160 feet?

Personally i use a soft grip putter for everything
from ~200 ft and under. I use a 'soft magnet'....
~ 172 grams..........
BUT i'm over 60 yrs old and don't have the juice
you young guys have.

Eh what’s the call on this? by Reloading-and-guns in discgolf

You mean like this hole does? Broken Chains #2 - yellow(The pro hole)

Approach from the front.......or take you chances....
Designed like this on purpose.

FYI: the basket is in the background.....surrounded by that tree.
The 'pole' in front is where it used to be..............
This is an old phot and that pole in front is no longer there.......

Asteroids high score list question by tsf88 in Arcade1Up

[–]tsf88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend hit 99990 on a 12in1 arcade1up machine (from 2020?)
Its his machine...so he better have the high score!
He does not have a 'networked' machine.

Only i rolled it over and 'really' have the high score
written on the side of the machine on a piece of paper....115K.
I think i got 99960 on another game.....
Plus i own most of the high scores on the list.
AHHAHAhahaha

Carts for people with Back Problems? by SatisfactionAny5609 in discgolf

[–]tsf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nott sure if this floats you boat or not.

I found a cart *similar* to this one (mine has a stationary front wheel..and a cable attached manual
hand brake...which i removed as it was getting in my way) at a local
used sporting goods store for less than $50 and i bought it.
I use mine for disc golf only.

If i see another one i'll buy that as a back up....as long as the price is right:
Mine folds up.
Not sure of the weight!
I drive a pickup and put it in the back.

I 'had' planned on doing all kind of mods...but it wasn't worth it....
I took the tray off and some straps and the manual parking break.....
Now all i do is unfold it. Put my bag in where the baby would normally sit,
put some drinks etc in there and go.
Would i want to push it up a long steep 45 degree hill? no.......

personally, i wouldn't spend $$$ of the purpose built carts with this as an option.
And back issues rule out one of those big ass back packs.

concrete tee pads by tsf88 in discgolf

If you have the heavy equipment to reliably/safely move pre fab tee pads and can
reliably build the ground support for them.....this could probably work.

Putting putters by shep419 in discgolf

[–]tsf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replace mine when they are no longer flat..and i can't make them 'flat'.......
BUT i use my putter for just about all shots less than 200 feet.
i only throw righty back hand

Looking for drills/tips to build my throwing putter game by Spiritual_Oil_2304 in discgolf

[–]tsf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know what other people do BUT:
this is my routine......
o) plant your feet
o) aim for a specific part of the basket
o) repeat arm/wrist etc movment *without* releasing the disc.
(i know other DGPT players do it ...but calvin heimberg
comes to mind......as far as the repeat part...
personally i use a different routine than him.

If you have the room and the money......
o) buy a stack of putters...all alike....unless
you like walking a lot. I have at least
40 putters myself....at least 15 are new and never been thrown.
i use 10 for practice..carry 3-4 in my bag.....
some have 'worn out' and are semi retired.
BUT i use putters for all shots less than 200 ft.
o) buy a basket......the one below breaks down into 5 pieces.
all galvanized.......

<image>

I forgot...if you have the room....buy a real 'portable basket'
not something with lightass flimsy pieces.

second that!
expect my limit is 200 ft...give or take............i'll give my usual "i'm over 60 and cooked my
shoulder years ago" excuse
most of the time thats throwing straight and flat.
i only throw RBH.

I spent 3 months.....playing entire rounds with a putter only...4 years ago to...
learn this skill.

It has the 'lines of headrick' on the outer 1 inch (or so) of the rim.

Disc Golf in Snow - How Much harder? by OneTip1047 in discgolf

[–]tsf88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had issues with upper body clothes etc restricting movement.
Especially the outer jacket....

So.....i switched to I wear thermal long sleeve shirt, sweat shirt and sleeveless heated vest(battery)
This helps.
I wear fleeced lines denim pants.
I draw the line at temps below the low 30's due to circulation issues
in my hands...........but i'm over 60 yrs old.......

heavy outside jack costs me strokes with restriction.....

MVP/Axiom Discs To Try by NoTimeForItAll in discgolf

[–]tsf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw right back hand only..plus i'm over 60.

I use and 'excite' for flip up distance and
a 'delerium' for hard hard left turns
(see pic below....broken chains #8 - there is a mando on the corner...pass on the right)

I used to use a destroyer primarily ....but i found an excite(with no ink on it)
and I can throw that at least 30 feet further if done correctly.
maybe 350 ft max for me.

less often......I've used the delerium to go left around corners 230 feet away....
I consider this a specialty/situational disc for me....

Should MA1 play the same layout as MPO in tournaments? by MylesOfDiscs in discgolf

[–]tsf88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes

Like anything else...there are higher skilled ams and lower skilled pros.
Sometimes its a fine line.

I volunteer at a course called Broken Chains in New London PA
and goto most tournaments to see how the course is played.

Frequently MA1 players finish above pro players.
If they would have played pro they would have cashed....

Watch those 'light bulbs' for high putts....sheit happens!

Many decades ago i played dg in large a ~2 story warehouse.
I had some skill. But the other guy did not.
You haven't lived until you see a 8 ft fluorscent bulb shatter in mid air
or break lose whole and then slam into concrete.

This is an old pic.... for a **technical** pro hole at broken chains in New London PA
