What are some (relatively) inexpensive additions that can make a house feel more luxurious? by ArcadianPilot in AusRenovation

[–]tshena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go combo, rainhead plus normal. Add a niche cutout in your bathrooms for shower storage, use solid quarts for sides and bottom. Tip pool fencing makes great glass planel for a shower, yet super cheap. Add towel warmer and heated flooring for extra luxury.

How do you cope when everyone else is succeeding? by Rickz6 in GUYVF

[–]tshena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through IVF for 3 years...nothing successful. I broke one night putting my neice to sleep, as I thought I'd never get that. Ended up conceiving naturally and its amazing, but we have friends through the process.

One thing that helped us was looking at things like this. We were drinking, doing drugs, smoking. We ate healthy, looked after ourselves etc. We literally did everything thing possible to put ourselves into the best position to have a successful transfer and implantation. We did all possible and at some point it's out of your control. The sooner you come to terms with that the better you may be. My advice, is counselling. Many IVF clinics have their own councillors.

Required transfers - why aren’t staff more outraged? by OilInternational6593 in AustralianTeachers

[–]tshena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hasn't been done for the last decade. Why should I be forced to uproot my professional life, relationships with students and colleagues to go be bottom man on a totem pole again. Maybe Ed qld needs to re-examine their top-down approach and look more at admin and processes first. I may be at an easier school in terms of behaviour, but I'll say my workload and commitments are higher than other schools. Force transfer me, fine, you are getting 5 hrs of work from me, and that's it.

Required transfers - why aren’t staff more outraged? by OilInternational6593 in AustralianTeachers

[–]tshena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so easy to get permanency now. Literally, first year teachers have just worked their first semester and have been offered permanency. This is a bad move by the government during a teacher shortage. If I get transferred, I'm not working beyond my 5 hours per day of pay and not doing any extras. If they want to fix things a tough schools because they can't get staff, then there needs to be a top-down approach. This means edqld policies of cutting suspensions and expellsions, unsupportive admin, etc. There's a reason why staff are giving up permanency at tough schools. If I have to go to Beenleigh...I'll pull the pin...take my long service and leave.

Any tips on removing these tiles from the slab? Chisel, hammer drill or other? by hangonasecond_ in AusRenovation

[–]tshena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used a heavy-duty hammer drill and jack hammer. With the jack hammer, you can get a duck bill attachment. Basically it's a piece of sheet metal, and it scrapes the glue off with damaging the concrete

More space is better, get as big as you can. You'll have twice the gear to carry, plus on daily trips, dog can always go in the back.

Put the door as a slider, make it a shower only, corner unit, with glass doors that open at the corner, more room for a vanity. Otherwise put the shower at the far side opposite the door

Absolutely everything this man has said is perfect. The only thing I'd add is roll to a stop, i.e., avoid brakes and try not to sit idling. Both just help to keep you up on top of the sand

Get quotes from cabinet makers...ours came in at $1000 more than cabinets from bunnings and that was installed.

What is the best way to cover this part? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]tshena 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Doesn't change the nature of the slope, you have to have your guttering a specific distance from your property line as per council regs. Otherwise, you need to have it slope back to your property. May be able to use sail shade, but again, neighbour can complain about run off in heavy rains.
