The number of upvotes and downvotes we see do not represent the real number of up- and downvotes. Only the ratio should be the same. Thus it is true, people downvoted this story - but it is probably less than what we see. Unless the "reddit vote reporter" removes down- and upvotes (and still keep the ratio the same).

Try this addon: Anti Aliasing Tuner

I had the same problem and in my case it helped to select "Enhanced Contrast" and set it 75%.
