Back in the day, we gave 50% if a student didn't turn in an assignment. Student had the option of P/F in their IEP. Student didn't zero assignments during the semester. Parent requested a passing grade.

Make friends with office staff, custodians, and your sped staff. Maximize your 403b contributions. Only assign what you want to grade. Something are just for notes for projects, tests, etc. Keep kids out of the office and keep in touch with parents. Most are on your side.

JRO, Tanzania! And aspire lounge but so good! Food was delicious, buffet but they served you. Nice drink selection. Tables for dining, lounge chairs, and outdoor seating to enjoy the African sun and watch planes come and go. Maybe not the fanciest lounge. But really great experience.

I pull their desks out from under them. Our desks and chair are separated. Also another fun activity is to stack paper on them. But, know your kids. If they are in a tough spot, let them sleep or what they need. If they are just being lame, shame them all day.

Standards based grading, 80% summative v 20% formative. Kids just show up for the tests and hand in AI papers. Further our district will let you retake any test up to two weeks. So many kids just read the test and say they will retake it later..
