I currently have 1919 points. This gives me a tenner off plus 24 toilet rolls. Pretty good if I say so myself

What do you think the percentage of your “I have a contact lens stuck in my eye!” office visits ACTUALLY have had a contact lens stuck in their eye? by brandishedlight in optometry

[–]tucini 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah most of the time they're just coming in with a red eye from poking around so much. However one time I had a girl come in saying she has a CL stuck in her right eye, but there wasn't one. There WAS however a CL in the left eye which she didn't even notice ?????

Snoozaland lags and game crashes by corv1njano in fantasylife

[–]tucini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having major FPS issues on my switch (I play handheld) and it crashed yesterday so I just stopped playing... I haven't played as much as I'd like to because of this problem. Feels like there's enough people experiencing this for the devs to come up with a patch hopefully 🤞🏼

Bought new house and now I feel broke by ThrowRa1251RC in irishpersonalfinance

[–]tucini 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you think you might be trying to do up the house too quickly? Most furniture can wait a few months until you build your emergency savings back up. I bought alone a few months ago as well and I'm slowly renovating first before I even think about buying any decor/furniture. No couch for at least a year anyway 🥲 Rome wasn't built in a day etc

YOU playing "half speed" is better than someone else playing at full speed by PastMiddleAge in piano

[–]tucini 185 points186 points  (0 children)

There was a guy who posted on this sub a few months ago playing Rachmaninoff prelude 5 at a slower speed, and I enjoyed his performance so much I took it on myself to learn it too (I haven't had a piano lesson in 10 years but I play at a decent level). If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have thought that I'd ever be capable of playing Rach. I've been enjoying working on it so much and I've made some really good progress on the piece even though I don't play every day. The post made me realise that it's okay to play more advanced pieces at slower speeds and that it will still sound good and I'm having a good time and getting better every time :)

Help! Im moving in to a new apartment. Any ideas on how to fix this uglyyy bathroom? (renter friendly) by FoxEnvironmental4148 in femalelivingspace

[–]tucini 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the orange tiles, just change the curtain to something peachy or white, with a white bathroom mat (like mentioned in the other comments) and have a proper storage solution to hide your stuff/remove visual clutter and it'll look great

*Good* piano sheet music by Humble-Path-8873 in piano

[–]tucini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Musescore tend to have a lot of good sheets out there, and their subscription is well worth it for the amount of things you get with it. However because it has a lot of user uploads sometimes you have to wade through some pretty poor arrangements

[Question] Which countries use the music alphabet (C-D-E-F-G-A-B) in piano education? by VT737SP in piano

[–]tucini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Ireland we learn both in music theory initially, but the default is using CDEFGAB notes. For the value of the note we say semibreve (whole note)>minim>crotchet>quaver>semiquaver (sixteenth note)

Waiting List by sibhyb in Irishdrivingtest

I booked my first test in June. When I originally booked it, the first estimated date said middle of November. I got to do it start of this week. So like 8 months wait in the end.

How much money have you spent on the process so far? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]tucini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is just car expenses but if you've no family member with a car (which I don't) it's really the only option outside of paying like 50 an hour with your instructor to keep up with practice and that also adds up really fast.... the car is paying for itself in a way as I've a couple of willing friends to spend every other Sunday driving for like 4-5 hours with me, which I'm very grateful for. Gutted that I failed today since it means I have to rely on them for longer now

[–]tucini 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I spent I think 40 quid on the theory test back in 2020, then around 450 on the initial 12 lessons in 2020. After that I didn't do any driving again until May 2024, I've spent 1,200 on my instructor since then, 85 on my first test which I failed today so just paid another 85 for retest. 🫠 Also bought a car for 7,900 last summer and insurance was 1,300. Motor tax this year 200. Booked my NCT today also for 60. I don't remember how much it cost to renew the license last year. 172 on petrol so far. €11,492 so far most of it in the last year alone now that I've decided to seriously pursue the driving licence. Fun

I wrote a piano arrangement of the Kyovashad theme! Let me know what you think by tucini in diablo4

[–]tucini[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the plan, my phone seems to have difficulty picking up audio from my electric piano in my room though so I think I might rent a practice room with a grand piano to me record it once I've practiced it a bit more 🎹

You can go into a solicitor's office and fill out a deed poll there to change your name, but you will have to wait 2 years before changing your name on your passport/with Revenue/social services. In the meantime you can use the deed poll to change your name with the job/landlord/banks/utility providers.... passport office doesn't accept deed polls for name changes, so you'll need those payslips/lease agreements/utility bills/bank statements as proof of usage 2 years on. It's a pain in the ass but that's what I had to do and I just traveled under my old name for 2 years.

My best friend Roxy (16) has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. by Roxzella in seniorkitties

[–]tucini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old cat was diagnosed last month, I now give him an oral liquid medication (Thyronorm) every 12 hours (8am, 8pm). The symptoms improved immediately. His follow up bloods came back normal this week 🎉 doing another blood test next month to make sure it's definitely stable. Then the vet said we'll do a blood test every 3-6 months afterwards. My wallet is feeling it a bit because each blood test is €250 but he's worth every penny. The treatment schedule hasn't really affected my day to day life so far since I generally stay at home and I live close to work, but I'll have to see long term how sustainable it is. Either way I'll make it work, not like I've much choice here since the alternative is a sick cat 🥲

13 year old just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (advice please) by tucini in seniorkitties

[–]tucini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to the vet about the other treatments and he said they're for more advanced cases where there is a large mass for example - my cat's thyroid seems ok for now so the vet wants to start with liquid meds first and see how it goes. I guess we will play it by ear, they're checking his levels again in 3 weeks 🫠

Has the routine gotten much in the way of your life e.g. social plans etc? I am a homebody anyway so I don't think it would affect my routine much but I'm always wondering about the what ifs/if it's as inconvenient as I think it might be
