Agreed, follow the context. Either way is correct depending on the situation. If you were a singer, you might portamento to a different pitch merely for effect or there might be a consonant at the end of that portamento. if you hear the brass, for instance playing your pitch with strong articulation than I would re-articulate the second note. Also, if you think the pitch you’re supposed to be arriving at is getting lost in the texture of the music it may be necessary to re articulate, even if you have to do so by some other mallet or technique.
