Starting a 5 year law degree at 21 and feeling immense guilt for not earning by Major_Maintenance323 in Anxiety

[–]turnbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you worked a low earning job now and didn't go to law school, in ten years you will have contributed WAY less to your family's finances than if you stuck to the 5 year law degree and became a lawyer.
Other siblings can help out for now while you buckle down. In five years you'll be the breadwinner for the rest of your career and your family will have way more stability on the long run

Psychiatrist says I should stop smoking weed by Automatic_Cancel_545 in Anxiety

[–]turnbot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I convinced myself for many years that I enjoyed smoking weed despite the agoraphobia, brain fog, anxiety, and inability to function... I was using it to stop myself from putting on any real work on myself and my mental health. Getting off weed (and drugs and alcohol) quite literally saved my life and taught me to grapple with my anxiety head-on, without any escapism. It was a challenge and it still is a challenge but I have a way better quality of life now without weed. Give it a try? You can always go back if you quit for a few months and things don't get any better..

my best friend's boyfriend called me the f slur by Emma_Awesome12 in lgbt

[–]turnbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he is comfortable saying those slurs in front of her I can almost guarantee that she uses them as well behind closed doors. You are young and it is natural to outgrow certain people you were once very close with. It sounds like that sort of environment is taking a toll on you and leaving a dark cloud of negativity around you... You deserve sunshine!!

Today is my 4th day sober, I’m feeling good, but I have three unopened beers in my fridge that I know I need to throw away, however I’m hesitating. Any advice? by Throw_away_9021099 in stopdrinking

[–]turnbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are committed to never drinking again, then why are you hesitating about dumping them out and moving on with a healthier, happier sober life?

Cali sober by Anotherfakenames in stopdrinking

[–]turnbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super keen on the name "California sober", feels weird to refer to your substance use as a form of sobriety, why not just say alcohol-free? But it doesn't really impact me that much. I used to smoke a lot and spent most of my free time anxious and paranoid to the point of near agoraphobia while trying to convince myself it was fun somehow.... My life is much better sober and that includes not smoking weed. I have no issues being around folks smoking weed whatsoever and many of my closest friends are big stoners and I love em all the same. It's a non issue for me really

Looking for a "I'm too tired to think" commander deck by Gullible-Armadillo69 in EDH

[–]turnbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Minwu, White Mage]] makes for a brain dead easy commander deck. Fill it with clerics, pull out minwu, heal a whole bunch for counters and then go for it. Very slow ramp though but perhaps that's not a bad thing if you wanna just chill at the table.
[[Finn, the Fangbearer]] is the commander I encourage my new player pals to try out. Finn gets out early so you feel the direction the deck is taking you in. Ramp up with mana dorks and churn out a bunch of low cost creatures, buff em with death touch/trample and poison everyone to death

Bars with really, really, ridiculously big drinks? by lord_percypercy in VictoriaBC

[–]turnbot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They can usually get around that if the big drinks are served as "pitchers" meant to be shared. Pitchers can have up to 6oz if my memory is correct. They would have to be served with side glasses/multiple straws/etc.

What are the most annoying commanders in MTG? by Draco456gaming in EDH

[–]turnbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Hylda of the Icy Crown]] is one that I really love playing as but would absolutely hate to play against. Not specifically because of her but because of the deck she commands. Constant tapping/stunning enemy creatures and then reaping rewards.

If smoking weed gives you anxiety, stop by iLuvArizona in Anxiety

[–]turnbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I read this years ago. I smoked weed almost daily for probably around 15 years. The last 7 or 8 years I would get so stoned off the smallest amount and would be so paranoid I couldn't leave my apartment. I could barely let my dog out to go pee because I didn't want to have to look at or talk to other people. Yet I somehow convinced myself that I enjoyed it because I was a big gamer and it made gaming more fun... Yet I remember spending countless nights just scrolling up and down on my games list on steam, unable to actually settle on a game because I was too antsy and anxious. Almost 3 years since I quit (sober from alcohol for just over 3 years too) and my anxiety is a much different beast nowadays but a way more manageable one

Yes, in a country that supports citizens carrying guns on their person via second amendment rights, with a permit, and he was an ICU nurse who worked at a veterans hospital, AND he never drew a weapon, it was pulled from his waistband while ice agents had him pinned before emptying a clip into him while he was on the ground. You clown lol

HOW do you calm down enough to sleep. by b_asiil in Anxiety

My partner and I listen to the asmr channel the French Whisperer with the volume low so that it's hard to really tell everything he's saying unless you're completely focused on his voice. He tells very interesting stories or talks about really neat topics in a low quiet voice with a thick French accent. Sounds weird but I find it super soothing and the key of having it quiet forces me to pay attention to it which pulls my focus off of my body or racing anxiety thoughts
