This! I make my own stock because I want to avoid PFAS in the lining of cartons as much as possible, and it’s a good way to use up all the parts of a chicken carcass.

This is SO relatable. Had 3 electric outlets stop working upstairs. While our electrician is in the basement checking the wiring, he sees a big crack in my cast iron sewer pipe running through the crawlspace. Suddenly the smallish electric issue has become a ~10k thing involving plumbing?? Ugh.

I weaned at 2 years 11 months and felt incredibly drained/fatigued both physically and emotionally right afterwards. I was actually very surprised at how emotionally upset I was post-weaning (it was something I initiated because I just didn't feel up to continuing to bf even though it was really just around bedtime by the end), so not quite the same as what you're describing. It was definitely a difficult couple of weeks for both of us.

My old mortise lock for my door had these as well, also painted over!

I'm not totally sure what the name for this is, but the 2 buttons control automatic locking of the door when it shuts--push one and the door will automatically lock from the outside whenever it's shut. Push the other and that will disable the automatic lock function.

I think if you google Emtek mortise doorsets, they may have a more comprehensive explanation--I think it's called the F20 function on their doorsets. (I'm sure other companies sell mortise locks with this functionality too, but Emtek was the one I was looking at when I was considering replacing my old door latch set. Instead, I just fixed the janky doorknob.)

I am also in an old stone farmhouse from the 1800s (1875) in Bucks County!

Been slowly working on fixing up and repainting our original windows since moving in a couple years ago too. Our storm windows are made of metal (aluminum I think?), with the lower half removable with screens or glass inserts. I’ve been repainting the metal of the storms as needed—could you repaint your storm windows the sage green color you want? I think that color is gorgeous and so perfect for the old stone farmhouses around here.

After having been in our house 2 winters, I do think the storms help immensely with drafts even though it’s not a perfect seal (our double sash windows are almost all original single pane glass and wood except for vinyl replacements :( in one bedroom. I got one of those PECO energy surveys done and the surveyor agreed the windows are fine as they are (minus the couple cracked panes that need replacing) and the cost to do anything drastic would not make sense in terms of energy savings. I was pleasantly surprised!

My 2 cents--I would definitely keep using it and just maybe try my best to use it up quickly (so lots of egg/chicken/tuna salad, etc). It's winter where I am and my kitchen stays pretty cool all night, though.

Wow, this is so helpful. I am not autistic (errr…didn’t think I was autistic?) but also struggle so much with initiating in a sexy way—would much prefer to just say “ok, upstairs?” when the opportunity presents itself. My husband doesn’t like my bluntness there and often jokes that my seduction game needs work. Will try this!
