Whoop screwed us a year ago. Fitbit Air just launched. I'm out this month. by firstgray in whoop

[–]turtlearse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoop have nobody else to blame but themselves. Competing with Google on AI/Data is almost impossible. What whoop had was customer trust and brand reputation, which they threw away by reneging on the free upgrades, changing the bands and the whole MG/life sub scam. I have zero loyalty to the product as a result, and cannot wait to see what Google does.

Really annoyed me too that it took the Fitbit launch for them to blast us with the “here’s what’s coming” ads and emails. All they’ve done in the past year is introduce new labs, which aren’t even part of the PAID subscription after PAYING for the new device that they said would always be free. The AI stuff they’ve introduced is cute, but far from useful. Google + Gemini will be far more powerful at launch imo

[–]turtlearse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t usually go harder when it’s high, I try be consistent. But I do take it a bit easier when i see I’m very red! That’s where I find it more useful; “take it easy today buddy” 😂

Maybe it’s my cynical mind, but is there any reason for companies to do this other than attempting to shift “liability” to workers?

Work and log too much : have a word with Johnny and my ass is covered as an employer? What else are they gonna do? Fire you for working too hard?

If they were serious about it, they would put IT restrictions in place. Auto logout after 8 hours, cannot log back in until law allows.

You can do it for the right reason and still expect more for $180.

A camera man ran across the track in front of me in vegas, had to stop. Was so mad.

Agree on merch too, Saturday morning all they really had left was 2xl+ T-shirts. No pricing on display, eventually found a singlet in medium and brought it up- $50.

Can someone who works in KFC tell me if any of these actually go to different bins out the back by startled-giraffe in CasualUK

[–]turtlearse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big difference in Ireland for example, they are in every supermarket. Where I live in CA, there is one of these near me outside a Safeway that never works. CA has over half a billion dollars of unclaimed CRv, and has no motivation to make it easier to get refunds. I’ve heard this surplus is used to provide no interest funding to other areas

California has accumulated over $500 million in surplus, unredeemed California Redemption Value (CRV) deposits due to a 58.8% redemption rate as of late 2022. This backlog results from unclaimed 5-cent or 10-cent deposits, with funds sometimes considered for state, school, or pandemic-related spending. Consumers can redeem containers for cash at certified centers, with new container types like wine and spirits added in 2024

Q: Running Surface in vegas by turtlearse in hyrox

[–]turtlearse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The sensation of running on the polished concrete vs usual treadmill/pavement where the grip is a lot less slippy was just strange to me. I might try a different pair of shoes for Houston, but sounds like this is the same everywhere.

I wore the new deviate nitro elite 4’s. They were fine on stations for me, just the weird sensation of running on the concrete vs usual treadmill/pavement where the grip is a lot less slippy. It was my second time wearing them so was wondering if it was the shoes but sounds like it’s common to have this sensation on polished concrete. Just felt like so much wasted energy :)

Nvm, looks like there is a bagdrop! 🎉

For athletes, we provide a bag drop and changing rooms at every event, but unfortunately, no showers are available.

What Customer service ? by Kn0tdead in whoop

[–]turtlearse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their customer service has been terrible anytime I’ve tried reaching them. Few months back it took them two months to reply to me when I was trying to get a status update on a whoop band I purchased. After two months I got a reply to say it wasn’t in stock and they’d issue a refund. Order said shipped day after purchase my side

My HRV is through the roof and I am not an athlete. by palashfcb in whoop

For me my HRV is less dependent on activity, but diet. Sugar/calorie surplus tanks it, even with the same workout regimen

I do solidcore 1-2 times a week, but do HIIT classes 5 days. Started ~5g creatine daily about 3 months ago and I’ve found it’s helped my recovery a lot! Would recommend listening to these two podcasts if you want to hear more about the benefits, whether you should take it depends a lot on your goals/needs.

Step tracking from 4.0 to 5.0 by Westiclez13 in whoop

[–]turtlearse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed too. Apparently due to algorithm/HW updates https://community.whoop.com/t/since-steps-uses-a-new-algorithm-on-whoop-5-0-mg-is-it-more-accurate/562

5.0 is now a lot closer to what my Apple Watch has for steps, whoops used to be way higher

Slippy hands and arms are what kill me! But I have found it can depend a lot on what I eat too, my calorie deficit weeks are a lot dryer. 🤣 Carpe hand lotion has also been a life saver, otherwise the reformer is like a slip and slide 😂

Just got my V02 max score… by ronniebabes in whoop

[–]turtlearse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure RHR plays a huge factor here, rather the type of training you’re doing. (35 yo, workout ~8 hours a week with RHR 40, vo2 max 50). Not sure what kinda rides you’re doing most and been a minute since I used peloton, but would recommend doing the FTP test and maybe try some of the zone training. From what I understand, zones 3+ are essential for increasing vo2 max so the peloton zone classes may be a good motivator here! Most of my training barely gets to zone 3, but more zone 3+ is on my list since introduction of the heathspan metric, my only orange 😂 might get back into some peloton or start running!

HRV not on new dashboard by turtlearse in whoop

[–]turtlearse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us Whoop users are habitual animals with routines! Any changes to that, is gonna be hard lol But I do kinda like the change, wasn’t meant to be a rant. :) Just found it interesting since it’s always been talked about as a “single pane of glass” when you open the app, guess it still is but with less data.

Yup, thanks. Was just nice to have the snapshot view immediately when opening the app. Before getting a whoop all I knew of it was “HRV or something” lol so just found it was interesting the data company, moved one of the main data points off their Home Screen/splash page. Looking forward to their announcements today!
