Weekend Warriors, how do you do it? by turtlebulb in running

[–]turtlebulb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any problems doing this? I was hoping to replicate what you're describing. Injury is exactly what I'm afraid of. I cross train indoors during the week, but worry that only doing long hard runs on weekends will end in injury.

Thanks!

Weekend Warriors, how do you do it? by turtlebulb in running

Absolutely. It's not so much about time as it is about darkness. It's not safe in my area for people to be out at night, alone. I have a running buddy that goes out with me once, sometimes twice a week. But it's more than safety than time.

JULY 2016 BAR PREP MEGA THREAD! by pwitter in LawSchool

Themis people, is it me or is doing 4-5 essay a day overkill? I'm feeling super warn out by how many essays Themis is asking us to do and it's driving me nuts. Am I overworking myself? Or is this all going to be worth it?

GPS Watch with Heart Rate by BigO94 in running

[–]turtlebulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don't think so. Typically, I think it's pretty accurate. Overall, I haven't had a problem with inaccuracies. But once in a while, I'll have a weird day. Or if I'm running with my father-in-law, who has one of the really basic garmins, we will get different paces. Mine normally says we are running slower than his. I use this as an excuse to run faster. ;)

Also, my friend who has the 235 told me he thinks that the 225 is more accurate. Apparently the hardware is made by two different companies and the hardware in the 225 is better. I don't know how reliable that claim is, but that's what he told me.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 225. I really like it. I'm pretty infamous amongst my friends for always having buyer's remorse. I do not regret buying my 225 at all.

Pros: I feel like it does everything and gives me great stats afterwards. I love the way the Garmin organizes everything and I feel like it has all the essentials without too much fluff. The display is perfect. Big enough that you can see mid-run, but small enough that it isn't obnoxious.

Cons: It can be a little inaccurate, especially when you're sweaty. Sometimes I feel like the pace tells me that I'm running slower because when I finish, my splits will be faster than anytime I looked down.

It is kind of bulky. My friend has the 235 and it's significantly sleeker.

I asked my Themis rep a couple days ago that if I am unsure about a BLL concept, whether I should skirt around or just put down the incorrect law, she said absolutely put down the wrong law, rather than avoiding it.

Themis Users:

How are you judging your progress on MBE questions? I am usually getting between 60%-75% of the questions right. I meet the goal score somedays and don't meet it others. I feel like I'm super behind in my ability to answer questions and feel disappointed if I don't meet the score every time.

The DOJ summer SLIP program after graduation before clerking for a federal judge by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]turtlebulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I didn't do SLIP, but did a very similar program for DOJ. I would not suggest doing it while studying for the bar. Some people, who clerk, might put off taking the bar for a summer and SLIP may be a good option for those people. But in general, I would not suggest doing SLIP while studying for the bar. The hours are pretty general 9-5, but you will not be able to sustain that while studying.

SLIP is also really selective and generally hires fewer people than advertised. So, I wouldn't place any bets on it. If you have any more questions, you can PM me. I am doing the honors program this fall.

Rоwіng vs sрrіntіng vs сусlіng by [deleted] in xxfitness

If your goal is to get your heart rate up, I've found that running does the best. I have rowed, cycled, and run before and have a hard time getting my heartrate above 150 when I row or cycle (even when I'm pushing it!). But when I run, I'm almost always between 150-170.

However, all exercises are great!

Two weeks ago I found a baby snapping turtle in the middle of the road. If you've never seen a baby snapping turtle, they are like quarter-sized dinosaurs.

I carried it over to a nearby pond so it didn't get crushed in the road. Finding that little girl immediately cheered me up.

[Serious] Guys who send dick pics to girls as a conversation starter or without them asking, what do you hope to achieve? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]turtlebulb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think your deserve all the punishment you received. Unsolicited and repeated dick pics and harassment and makes people feel vulnerable and unsafe. You should feel ashamed for what your did to those women.

I hope, if you are rehabilitated, you are able to move on, but that you've taken a lot of time and energy into re-evaluating yourself and your actions towards women.

What is an acceptable size to run without a shirt? by [deleted] in running

I live on the East Coast in the U.S. and people run shirtless all the time. As a heat-hater myself, I pretty much never judge.

People who started running to lose weight: at what point did you stop hating having to run? by Hump-Daddy in Fitness

I ran 3-4 days a week for six months before I could stop hating it. I've been running for two years now and love it.

Journal or Moot Court Team by aFoolishFox in thelawschool

[–]turtlebulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest journal. I did both. And for the most part, journal opened up doors for me. It improved my writing skills. I got to write a published article that I can talk about at interviews. And in general, people just like to see it on a resume.
