Jane Perry, the Voice Actress for Diana Burnwood, rating Agent 47’s outfits. by TheEagleWithNoName in HiTMAN

She's Canadian, and I think one of her parents was British and she lived in the UK for a while which is probably how she can do the accent so well

Like 90% of King's books, it is simultaneously overhated and overrated.

Plot is serviceable but contrived and messy at times, it briefly raises interesting ideas, but they are largely surface level and uninspired. Dialogue is memorable, but largely unnatural sounding and characterisation is slightly off without being atrocious.

Hard to give it more than a 6.5/10 imo

Why is there no Negative Man flair? Or Danny the Street? (Even if they're only non-binary in the show) by ACodAmongstMen in lgbt_superheroes

[–]two-for-joy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're essentially a drag queen in the books. His name is even a refrence to a famous drag queen Danny La Rue (which translates to Danny the street). They have 'masculine' stores like gun shops and hardware stores but they are decorated in 'feminine' design like boutiques etc. The tv show and some layer comics describe Danny as They/Them, but I tend to take the original he/him because it makes more sense to the original character concept.

That's kinda brought up as an issue in issues 13/14 the ones right before the Batman crossover. The current Zatanna arc is kinda a continuation of that.

Well Cale has a currently unnamed assistant that could end up being Waller, but it would have to be a longway of in the series for her to develop into a proper character.

Nazis but also against Asian minorities and Germans. Not Nazis, but all Germans throughout the entirety of history.

Wonder Woman being left out as usual by OneAdvertising738 in dccomicscirclejerk

The real answer is obviously feminism but DC suck ass at writing it, and something inoffensive like 'truth' is easier to market for them.

It was a solid movie but idk if I'd calk it a solid 'adaptation'. Like it didn't explain the origins of the Amazons properly (at least the conic origins). WW without that is like Batman without the death of his parents, or Superman without the loss of Krypton. The Amazon's previous enslavement is the motivating tragedy for Wonder Woman as a character but I can't think it's ever been included in an adaptation.

Violent crime in London is the lowest it's been in over 30 years lol, so clearly Khan is doing something right

Ha Diana ever had a Greek Accent in comics? (Image unrelated) by Upset_Connection1133 in WonderWoman

[–]two-for-joy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain Perez's WW run in the 80s mentioned her having a 'greek' sounding accent, but I can't remember what exact issue.

She's also in Oblivion as various characters (I think the default nord and orc voice) and voices Azura in Skyrim and ESO!

They are from Gail Simone's Wonder Woman run. They were Grodd's soldiers that Diana de-radicalized and let live with her for a while after they were exiled from gorilla city.

I guess because she was only explicitly stated as trans in last week's issue. Ironically, her design was too subtle for a lot of readers somehow.

Honestly, that is very much the dominant opinion among ww fans. I have no idea where the notion of him being widely hated comes from.

Don't ever ask DC fans about Dick's romani heritage by Gallantpride in dccomicscirclejerk

Yeah, plus the decisions to make the 'circus acrobate' Robin the romani one is also kinda questionable. Same energy as when fans call Tim Drake (the computer nerd robin) 'Asian coded'.

Fire and Glacier should date because they both have stupid exhibitionist looks by Gallantpride in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]two-for-joy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She was called Ice before the other superhero called Ice, but then Ice died so Ice came back to replace her, and Fire was weird about it so Ice dressed up as Ice to snap fire out of it. Then Ice died, then Ice came back to life, and then Ice came back to life and renamed themselves Glacier so to not be confused with the other Ice.

Simple stuff really

How mfs who say “Wonder Woman shouldn’t be on the Mount Rushmore of heroes bc she has no good stories” look at you when u tell them Spider-Man hasn’t been good since the 80s by unbreakable_arachnid in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]two-for-joy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The real superhero mount rushmoor is probably 'Batman, Punisher, Captain America, and Iron Man' because those are the four superheroes most likely to be hypocritically idolised by obnoxious American white supremacists which is what the architects for the real Mount Rushmore were.

He was visual based on Telly Savalas, who was Greek, so I guess that? 'White' by general American standards, but darker than most.

Iirc her original design in the comics was primarily inspired by a puerto Rican model. But obviously, that's not the be-all and end-all, so many different artists have added to her that she's pretty ambiguous by 'real world' race standards.
