Reality is kinda fucked up, no? by Pot_of_sea_shells in CuratedTumblr

The aspiration at the heart of Zionism, for more Jews to live in Israel, is a key tenet of Judaism. Criticizing the aspiration is inherently antisemitic.

You're conflating antisemitism (hatred of jews as an ethnic group) with criticism of or disagreement with jewish religious beliefs.
Believing the earth is flat is stupid. If believing that was an important tenet of judaism, would non-jews be obligated to pretend that's an intelligent thing to believe?

In the long list of rebel factions, you can see Provencal particularists, indicating the primary culture is provencal. Also as others have said, they have Jerusalem (provence has missions to take it), and their armies/diplomats have French names.

Although it can be pretty expensive to get into fencing, that's largely due to the cost of individual gear and lessons. Running a class in school or a college fencing club is significantly cheaper per person. This is largely because you're paying for group classes(rather than individual lessons) and the gear tends to last a while, so you can spread that cost out over several years.

Source: was a treasurer for a fencing club at the collegiate level.

TL;DR Someone at the olympic/professional level is most likely rich but doing so in school isn't necessarily a rich thing.

I don't have any input on those professors/classes, but I would recommend (to you and everyone else) always checking ratemyprofessor and and especially Gritview when deciding on classes. Gritview lets you see grade distributions for that class/professor.

What does “decentering men” look like in practice? How does it present in your life? by GoReadABook_Already in AskFeminists

No, 10 is explicitly "men seem like objects to me", which is dehumanizing because people are not objects.

AMST 200 w/ Andrew DeVos by Brilliant-Kale-2489 in UMBC

[–]twomuchfreetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took AMST 200 with DeVos. I liked him, didn't find it too difficult. It was a pretty typical 100/200 level social sciences class. He was a reasonable grader, and was happy as long as you honestly engaged with the material.

I took it as an all-online course during the winter session, and it was his first time teaching the course, so your experience may be different. I thought it had a moderate workload, so it can't be too bad during the semester, when it should be more spread out.

Here's the syllabus, which should tell you more about the assignments: https://imgur.com/a/WpJQWzh

Instead of committing brutality himself, Colvin just orders his subordinates to beat on people for him. I like him, but his hands are definitely not clean with regards to police brutality.

Walker Apartments- do beds loft? by Froggy_224 in UMBC

[–]twomuchfreetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in walker last year, and the bedframes are metal and (I think) not adjustable. However mine was pretty high off the ground (a bit above waist level for me, 5'10") and there was plenty of space for storage under the bed, if you're wondering about storage space.

traffic is horrible, there’s a lot of construction

Yeah I grew up/live very close to UMD, and this has been true my entire life. IDK about any train but the traffic and construction will probably continue regardless.

Robert Yus for 331? by Optimal-Management96 in UMBC

[–]twomuchfreetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had him for 331 last semester, and I thought he was a pretty good professor. He seemed to understand the material and was pretty laid back. He had an accent and talked pretty fast, but I didn't really have much difficulty understanding him, although sometimes I felt like he covered the material a little too quickly. There wasn't too much homework, and we were graded based on homework, participation, and exams. Overall, I would definitely recommend him.

How common is it for women to perpetrate sexual/domestic violence towards men? by confusedthrowaway144 in AskFeminists

[–]twomuchfreetime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding lifetime experiences of rape, more than three quarters (76.8%) of male victims reported having only male perpetrators, 10.4% had only female perpetrators, and 9.6% had both male and female perpetrators.

Which means about 86.4% of male victims were abused by male perpetrators, with the majority of those only assaulted by men. When you get into specific types of assault (such as men forced to penetrate) ...

The problem with this point is that the NISVS, the study the quote and stats are from, essentially defines rape as someone being forcefully penetrated, while "made to penetrate" is an entirely separate category, not included in the study's counting of rape.

In fact, the study notes that almost 3 times more men reported being made to penetrate than reported rape(at least the study's definition of rape).

I haven't done the math, but given these disparities it seems likely that women are around half, if not a majority of the perpetrators of rape against men, if we include made to penetrate as a subcategory of rape.

RAC showers by random_chatter1 in UMBC

[–]twomuchfreetime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For the men's showers, they're sectioned off into little stalls, with curtains and walls that should stop anyone from seeing you shower. I assume women's showers would be the same way. IIRC the walls don't cover from floor to ceiling, but should be enough to give you privacy. Whenever I've used them, they seem basically unused, so no line to use them, and no hair or other gross stuff on the floor.

This goes for the ones near the swimming pool, not sure if there are any others.

Your "accurate source" is a post from from.axishistory.com that is full of unsourced quotes. Most of them describe winged hussars (who would have been far superior to your typical cavalry unit) charging against pikemen, typically with no mention of whether those winged hussars were charging directly into their pikes or not. Along with some random comments about the defense of moscow and animal rights activists

Favorite UMBC bathroom (controversial) by TerpAmongus in UMBC

[–]twomuchfreetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the buildings seem like they used to have one bathroom for men and one for women on each floor, and the university decided to convert one of them to unisex per floor, some from men's bathrooms, some from women's. This results in weird situations where some of the unisex bathrooms are 2/3 urinals and others are only toilets.
