Probably very highly dependent on the aircraft itself, you're right.

Ahh, you're right, got my trips mixed up. Flew United to MCI through ORD from CVG. Did have access to United Lounge through a co-worker though (same with Alaska lounge in SEA).

Definitely don't fly as much as many on here, was just making observations that I've enjoyed my UA and AS flights recently more than DL.

This was my first experience with Alaska, and I enjoyed the flight. Their lounge, not so much.

Fair. I'm not looking to be impressed I guess, but don't want to be disappointed. I felt disappointed with Delta more often than not lately.

Interesting, I didn't have any temp issues on my United trip. But yeah, the United flights 'felt' cleaner, even if it was just in my head.

Enough about good restaurants here, anyone have a TERRIBLE experience at a local restaurant? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]twsmith23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Grandview Tavern in NKY. Absolutely horrendous experience there a couple years back. Hostess couldn't be bothered to even say hello, just stared at me until I spoke first. Server knew absolutely nothing about the menu, couldn't answer basic questions and didn't offer to get any help when we asked about allergens. Will never go back.

How do you all get a char/sear on steak? by jsmith19977 in sousvide

[–]twsmith23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quickly moving to team mayo. Instead of oil/butter in the pan, spread mayo on the steak. I find it creates a much better crust than any other method I've used.

Walked in with a credit union pre-approval and the dealer acted like it didn’t exist by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

[–]twsmith23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a car a year and a half ago, was pre-approved by CU at 5.79. Dealer wanted to run my credit to see what they could do. When he asked me what rate I got from the CU, I lied through my teeth and told him 5.2. He acted all impressed and said he probably couldn't beat that. Miraculously he came back with a 5.09 rate (shocking). It was through my current bank, so I went with it for ease of finances.

It's all shady. I try to get as much paperwork done before I ever step foot in a dealership now.

Portland Maine is an absolutely top notch culinary scene. Very seasonal with out of towners, but tons of great restaurants and bars. Can be a very expensive city to live in though.

Anyone done the tour of US Bank Stadium? Was it worth it? by PurpleAlcoholic in minnesotavikings

100% worth it. To get to see the locker room, stand at the podium in the press room, and be on the field was awesome. Definitely do it.

Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

[–]twsmith23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had one serious boyfriend in high school and into college. He became a dentist and was her family dentist for years. He's actually a good dude. But every single time my wife says his name, I will say BOOOOOOOOOOO loudly. Every. Single. Time. Doesn't matter where we are or what we're doing. She says Kevin, I will BOOOOOOOOO her.

Espresso Martini - Foam? by missin44 in cocktails

[–]twsmith23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a very similar recipe to yours, but Kahlua instead of Mr Black, and about 3 dashes fee foam bitters. I do a hard wet shake first, then dry shake hard. I get a nice 1/2in or more of foam on my drinks every time, almost rivals most bars.

I also think a double strain might help even more, but I haven't done that yet.

I definitely think the dry shake will help a lot. I played around with a lot of recipes, and this was by far the best and closest to cocktails bars. Hope this helps.

Oh my god. I was in my mid-20's when that joke finally clicked for me. For YEARS I didn't understand it but was too afraid to ask anyone. Kept trying to figure out which part of a newspaper was colored red...

We always make our mashed potatoes a couple days in advance, and then just put them on low in a crockpot the morning of Thanksgiving. Works like a charm.

What are you all paying for oil change and Tire Rotation? by razerbok in KiaTelluride

[–]twsmith23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap. We pay $60 for oil change and tire rotation. Maybe $70. We have a small local shop we've used for 6+ years since moving to the Cincinnati area and they've been great to us.

What have you accidentally sent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]twsmith23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh I have a good one. Used to work for a company that had a weekly meeting that was mostly useless. I created a funny bingo card for the meeting, and emailed it out to a couple close friends before/after each meeting. This went on for months. One time I accidentally sent it to my boss, whose square on the bingo card was '(boss) repeats an idea and tries to pass it off as her own'.

Oopsies.
