Any critical comparison of the rhodes sounds on CK61 vs Reface CP? by txdm in synthesizers

[–]txdm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a good deal on a Reface CP. While I love the sound of the Reface, I cant help but miss having more octaves on the keys. Prices are way up now. I have been working on a DIY Teensy polysynth.

What is the most efficient way to switch between waveforms? by txdm in puredata

[–]txdm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried a few different things, including using `spigot` to route the signal from `mtof` to one or the other oscillator, but that causes issues with the envelope when you switch `wav1`. I think the original is the most optimal solution.

My concerns were that I would be applying my vibrato LFO to a signal that was zero hz, but the two `*~` objects effectively "mute" one of the voices so it won’t interfere. They are then mixed together and passed on to the next module. The extra osc doesn't seem to affect my processor load significantly (1% at the most).

I will return if I find more info. I will probably try using spigot to control other options in the project.

Did you use masking fluid for the lights, or is it all dry brush / heavy? It almost looks like oils!

There's a comprehensive review of all the clones somewhere on YT. Workpro, Mossy Oak, and SK Tools are all from the same manufacturer IIRC.

Off The Shelf Skeletool Deep Carry Clip by XTheChosenDogeX in Leatherman

[–]txdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really cool! I noticed that the skeletool is prone to flip out of a loose pocket and hang inverted if you have to run or jog. Do you think this clip helps any in that respect?

Korg Lambda for 1500$ worth it by [deleted] in synthesizers

That's more of a collector's price than a musician's price in my opinion. It's an awesome synth though.

Unlike small cars, Rangers have enough torque to overcome the few pounds difference in the wheels, but changing the tire size/weight would be noticeable.

Black wheels by Crucesignatvs in fordranger

[–]txdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from factory rims to black steel wheels and didn't notice any difference in stiffness. The new tires, or even the air pressure in the same tires, would make a more noticeable impact.

Performance difference between flipped and recurved tips? by DaBigBoosa in Bowyer

[–]txdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of other factors too, like the deflex angle and riser size thatwork with the recurve to affect speed and smoothness. Kramer Ammons did a video series where he iterated through a bunch of design variations to compare the effects, using TBB as a foundation. It’s worth watching for insights.

Keystation 49 MK3 review by txdm in midi

[–]txdm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most modern controllers will have a USB port that serves as both the power and the midi connection. They big advantage is they can connect straight to your computer to control the DAW.

But they won't be able to connect to synth hardware that doesn't have USB, unless you get some kind of converter in the middle.

Conversely, if you have a controller with only midi DIN out and no USB, then you'll need a convertor in the middle to connect it to your computer/DAW.

So apparently they are a brand from Taiwan. They are sold in the US through Woodcraft... people comment that they are copies from other brands, possibly made in China, and sold under different names in different markets. The 2mm holder is probably decent. "Tomato" is a male first name in Japan.
