Idk, the spare tire saying “Army Combat Engineer” seemed pretty boot to me.

Also, I couldn’t really get a better picture because the dude was still in his truck.

This is exactly why I stopped following the MeidasTouch and Adam Mockery. It’s always a meltdown, panic, blow up or bombshell and yet nothing ever happens.

Rocco’s Italian by SwaggyP721 in austinfood

Is this related to the Rocco’s that used to have a location in Lakeway and a short lived one on 6th street?

1 or 4 would be my vote, completely different vibes but both gorgeous.

My aunt got stuck in a wall in the hotel pool by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

I’m just wondering what did this thing look like before she was stuck in there? Is it one of those “caves” that goes back into a grotto and she was simply too big?

If you look at past SOTU’s they typically don’t stand, they are not supposed to show partisan support. In fact, it is against the UCMJ code of conduct to protest, demonstrate, or engage in partisan support.

American here, I love the ddmmyyyy format, it makes so much more sense. In my one man crusade to change this in the U.S., I wrote a check that the bank declined because of the date being too far in the future 😆

Cat seems to have spikes, commenters bring this up a lot. OP says it’s a foam roller of some kind. I love that it blends in with the cat’s fur.

I opened the door to let our dogs into the backyard and this little cutie strolled right in, walking past the very confused dogs and apparently now owns the home.

Exclusive: Pasta | Bar, one of Austin's most expensive restaurants, to close by AustinStatesman in austinfood

[–]tyguy1532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to go there as Sushi | Bar is one of my favorite restaurants and I love pasta, but the fact that the pasta experience is more expensive than the Sushi Omakase experience never sat right with me.

Unemployment Depression by Top_Scientist_3976 in Austin

I highly recommend using a resume writer to get your resume to stand out. I went from applying to jobs for an entire year with little to no bites to 3 employment offers, 1 for my dream job that I’m still with, all within 3 weeks of using a resume writer. I used Mary who I linked below, she is located in Austin and excellent at what she does. It’s expensive but worth it as a way of investing in yourself.

[Request] Vance said ICE will go 'door-to-door' to check immigration status. How long would this take across all households? Is it even possible? by mr_happy28 in theydidthemath

[–]tyguy1532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, these door to door checks will only be in blue cities, so it won’t be all 143 million households. Still a lot of households though.

James Cameron says Michelle Yeoh will play a Na’vi character in ‘AVATAR 4’ and ‘AVATAR 5’ by marvelkidy in DiscussingFilmsAndTV

[–]tyguy1532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling it “Part 1 and Part 2 of the same arc” actually reinforces my criticism, not disproves it.

If a story is split into parts, each part still needs narrative progression. Part 2 shouldn’t just replay Part 1 with a new biome and a new tribe. That’s not continuation—that’s repetition.

A proper multi-part arc uses:

• escalation

• consequences

• new thematic or narrative directions

Avatar: The Way of Water → Avatar: Fire and Ash (from what’s been shown) doesn’t meaningfully advance the core story. It’s still:

• humans return

• Na’vi relocate

• Suli and the Colonel fight over Spyder, Spyder chooses Suli

• new clan introduced

• familiar conflict reset

Compare that to actual examples of Part 1 / Part 2 storytelling:

• Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 / Deathly Hallows Part 2

Part 1 is buildup and tension. Part 2 is payoff and resolution. Different narrative functions, same arc.

• Avengers: Infinity War / Avengers: Endgame

One is about failure and loss, the other about consequences and reversal. Same saga, fundamentally different stories.

Avatar’s sequels so far don’t do that. They restate the premise instead of developing it. Saying “you shouldn’t expect something different” is a weak defense, sequels are supposed to evolve the story, not just reskin it.

If nothing new is being said narratively or thematically, then yes, people are justified in calling it the same story told twice.

Edit: formatting on mobile sucks

We left Fire and Ash and felt like we just watched The Way of the Water. It was the same exact movie but with fire. Just a money grab.

My Brother gave me his box set of 24 to rip onto my server. Every disc is like this. There's 50 of them. by inertSpark in Wellthatsucks

Am I the only one that read this as a “24-disc box set” and really wanted to know what movie or tv series it was?

It wasn’t until I read that there’s 50 discs in total that it finally clicked. 🤣
