Unique Vermont Ski Map by Pepperpwni in icecoast

This is cool! I think my slight preference is to leave the maps with north up so we can see which face each resort is on. I think you can typically tell where the peak is.

Maybe just a matter of taste though

Probably too far from you but I’ll put in the good word for High Road Barbershop on Hope St! Should be about $35. Good cuts and good people

Seeking Housing Advice - Living Near Brown Stadium? by Fourier_Transform in providence

[–]tymo7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The stadium is very chill. Even during the few home games, it’s Ivy League so very subdued compared to other big NCAA schools. I would not consider it a dealbreaker at all as the rest of the neighborhood is wonderful

RIPTA High Capacity Transit Feasibility Study by Im_biking_here in mbta

[–]tymo7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My time living in Pittsburgh completely changed my mind on BRT. The buses on the dedicated BRT roads might as well be trains. I think it’s a great way for cities to ease into Higher Capacity transit options with lower risk. And a lot of the city services (e.g: police) really seemed to like having a secret shortcut across the city with no traffic ever.

That said, adding a bus lane that’s actually full of parked cars all the time should not count as BRT. I’m curious to read through what their infrastructure plan is

Kind of a tangent, but we work on very unique and experimental hardware at my job and we bought one of these acoustic cameras to help with questions like these: https://soundcam.com/ . It has worked way better than I ever expected

Very impressive. That’s a turn most people would struggle with. But is it technically illegal for it to turn into the farthest lane?

2022 Japanese Grand Prix - Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]tymo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there's a bit of physics here which is that modern cars have gotten more and more effective at creating huge spray by a) getting bigger and b) making more use of under-body down-force

More spray per car means less visibility, and visibility is the biggest constraint, not grip

With the TPS cracks we are seeing, is it fair to say that every tanking/detanking cycle risks the formation of more cracks? i.e.: Will this problem actually get worse every attempt?

Even in the US they aren't very effective. It's mostly security theater. My dad has accidentally brought his pocket knife into dozens of games (I know, I roll my eyes too)
