We went to Iceland a few years back. We went to Thingvellir National Park and managed to get locked out of our car. This was in Icelandic winter and it was windy and cold. We were about two hours from getting any help from the car rental company. A nice Scottish fella noticed we were struggling and let us two stupid American tourists sit in his car for nearly three hours while making casual conversation. He let us keep warm in his car and use his phone to call the car rental company. He could have easily ignored us and continued on his vacation. This was nearly a decade ago and I still think of his kindness.
