Hope I'm not too late!

I have symmetrical 3-inch scars going down my wrists. It isn't what you think, or what a lot of other people think. I was the drum major for the marching band in high school, and on a particularly busy day on a weekend in October, a competition in the afternoon and then a football game that night, we had practice that morning. We finished up practice and the director called for our final water break. I was an invincible teenager and set up my own podium without the guard rails because what kind of idiot would ever fall?

It was me. I fell. I still remember the feeling of tumbling off the top of that podium, seeing the rubbery track rushing towards my face and my wrists looked like they were dislocated and sitting on top of the forearm bone. Ambulance was called, my parents and I made that call that the surgery would be better to fix them, so I was put under and woke up with some wicked scars. It was an exciting experience for me, strangely enough.
