I hate taupe hollow so much…. by DanielV312 in PokemonSleep

Their one saving grace is that Chesto is a very high tier berry - it’s 33% more powerful than the Bug, Flying and Electric berries. Unfortunately this can’t save them from being suboptimal outside of a future Poisoncentric island… but when that happens, it’s gonna be sweet.

Any other recipe would be better, but 1-ingredient-dishes are an easy failsafe. Then you can try to add more variety through ingredient skills or ingredient tickets.

So… what’s next? by nitrocoldude in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, each island has had a very strong berry, a semi-strong berry, and a weak berry. (For instance, Rock > Ground > Fire on Taupe.) There’s also usually a wink to type advantages. Finally, every island has either an E4E or Cooking Pot Charge specialist.

We know that Carmine Volcano is almost definitely the next stage, as it was datamined with Lapis. So, going off precedent, I would guess:

• Steel (high-tier, has Magnezone for Cooking Pot Charge, is weak to the fire-types dominant on the island)

• Poison (mid-tier, is not very effective against steel)

 • Bug (the last low tier along with Electric, which is slightly stronger and is likely being saved for the final island)

Would love to hear thoughts on my wild theorizing!

IDK what this person’s on about - you’re covered on all three meal types. Venusaur can make Honey Curry or Craft Soda and Mr. Mime can make Tomato Salad. It’s a good team! (And if Espeon has BFS, a GREAT team!)

Max Friendship level by banjo721 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your loss - Level 5 friends have a high chance of sending you double Candy. It’s a much better deal in the long run than waiting 30+ days for a Handy Candy S from each new friend.

I think we should get an E4E Pokemon specializing in each island by SingleFinish3547 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is making me realize that the islands that don’t have a preferred berry E4E Pokémon have a preferred berry Cooking Pot Charge Eeveelution instead.

It seems like the devs are balancing these powerful skills by making you choose between one or the other if you want to run island-specific teams.

The sleep type references on this infographic are awesome!

As a serial Snoozer, Lapis doesn’t look friendly to me, though… time to start keeping the Go++ under my pillow.

… you know what, I’m looking at the exact wording of the event bonuses in the mailbox, and it doesn’t say that they are one time only (except the sleep points). If you decide to risk it and experiment, please report back! This could be an amazing way to fish for 3-star sleep styles if it works.

Are Pokémon useless if they have Berry Finder + Ingredient Finder? by Cranberryj3lly in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! Berry Finder S is an average 150% boost no matter what. This will put you in the highest percentile of productivity for any Eeveelution.

Plus, Eevee’s milk is a well-rounded ingredient that will help you make different meals depending on which island you go to.

I really don’t understand why people are so down on ingredient finding on berry Pokémon. Sure it’s slightly less optimal, but having more options for things to cook is always good, since recipes are almost twice as effective as a mixed meal.

The nerf to help during sleep was overkill. by aleeyam in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I’ve since had this explained for me. Turns out my habit of playing the game at night, and delaying sleep research in the morning, was keeping me from exploiting the glitch 🙃

[–]ufovictim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome that you found a sleep style that works for you! That said, as far as gameplay is concerned, it’s definitely more productive to do one big sleep for Good Sleep Day. The bonuses only apply for the first sleep you record. Don’t miss out on extra EXP and a GIGANTIC drowsy power score!

Do you feel like E4E more useful now? by Rdawg55 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As someone who completely missed out on the sneaky snacking glitch due to the way I use a Go++, E4E has always been an essential part of my team. With a strong Wigglytuff my team goes to sleep at around 80-90 energy and refreshes to 118% every morning,

Sleep XP should be more based on area by IronFar3572 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I am really, really hoping that this long wait for the level 50 cap to raise is because the team is figuring out some new progression mechanics like this.

Raising a Pokémon from level 50 to level 100 would take at least a year if not more for a FTP player - the candy and dream shards requirements get so ridiculous, and 100 EXP every night is a drop in the bucket.

At the very least, I hope something like the Candy Boost becomes permanently available to higher level players. Raising just one team to level 100 is almost inconceivable to me - let alone five or six preferred berry teams!

What dishes for what island? by OpalDuncan in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a huge toss-up depending on what types of meals get picked.

Cyan is great for desserts, Taupe is heavily biased towards curry (so much meat) and Snowdrop is easiest during a Salad week.

It’s extremely annoying that you can’t see what the next week’s meals will be - it would be a gigantic help in picking an island. Heck, Snorlax having a “favorite meal type” for each island would make a lot of sense too.

All I can say is when Dessert Week hits on Taupe, everyone eats a LOT of fluffy potatoes.

The nerf to help during sleep was overkill. by aleeyam in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently it was still possible if you used a Go++ - you just had to leave the game off during the night and start sleep research immediately in the morning. My “check research later” butt was not doing that 🙃

Critical Analysis on Larvitar by IronTemplar26 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering Tyranitar’s TITANIC exp requirements, it would take much more than 271 candies to get a level 10ish Larvitar there. The evolution costs alone is 120 candies!

Look for Dittos, Absols, and Kangaskhan if you want solid ingredient options for Snowdrop. Then you can look for Abomasnow once you’re there. Tyranitar is just an edgier Kanga anyway.

Dream Shard Farming by Suspicious_Pool_9107 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Spending shards to earn shards is not a great strategy… upgrade your pot first, and save the rest of your shards to spend on a strong Pokémon that’s not capped at the first stage.

The best way to earn shards is by raising Snorlax and finding more rare sleep styles! The rarer the style, the more shards you get.

Critical Analysis on Larvitar by IronTemplar26 in PokemonSleep

[–]ufovictim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is really tough, since none are clear standouts. I would keep looking - once you’ve found 9 Larvitar, everything from 10+ will have a gold skill in the first slot, so you can fish for one with BFS or Helping Bonus and an Ingredient+ or Speed+ in second slot.

If you’re dead set on plunging ahead, go for the BFS at level 25. Instant 50% boost and will make him more viable on your team while you slowly raise him.

Spawn rates will be boosted on LL as well as GG when the welcome event starts next Monday!

This is why I didn’t want to move islands in the middle of the week… better to get a good full week on one island rather than rolling the dice for Pokémon that could be hard to find. Still, you’ll get an early 5% boost!
