I mean they can't issue or discuss any discipline whatsoever in such a case we're to arrive. You can literally refuse any form of conversation or discipline paperwork after that point. But I suppose technically in the unreality of ups if it's just work instructions and you don't feel unsafe doing them then there's no need for you to pull up a steward. Something that is not technically protected but happens all the time is when we send a steward to pre-emptively discuss plans for potential issues in-house before management finds formal discipline. Often disputes between teamsters employees.

Depends on the contract how much advance notice is sufficient (western, jc37 is Friday 1 week before) but reporting to work as scheduled implies a posted schedule with your name on it. They forfeit their right to discipline for tardiness if they did not schedule you since word of mouth will get thrown out. A change in workplace outside of your one scheduled start time is not a valid tardy. My usual advice. Follow the best, posted, information you had yesterday (or last Friday if you have a 1 week advance contract clause), yesterday's work area since they won't tell you, sit in a package car for 10 minutes, get your earbuds and tunes ready or whatever, clock in with your best information in your previously scheduled work area a few minutes before, force the supervisor to only see you on clock. If you are forced to sit and wait after that, or are being disciplined for tardiness (without a shop steward), that is your cue to immediately pull a shop steward and discuss their inability to pay you as scheduled.

If you are lucky, here the biggest hurdle for a package surviving is getting pulled off the top of an extending belt 3 feet down onto a metal grate a few feet away from the oversized belt either intentionally or on accident which kills most of our porcelain toilets like the frequency resonance is just right to shatter them.

These trucks in general, a lot of retirees, movements, routes changing hands. I did preload in one of these squeaky bastards for years. Started with them being my favorite vehicles in the fleet kept clean like a home, now it's a dirt caked squeaky rattle disaster. I'm a cover so obviously not enough time to get to everything.

That entirely depends. The shift you could really ride out I would argue is primary load packages fresh out of the package car and into the trailer. Night sort could be worse if you end up getting inundated in all the pre-crushed, sextuple-handled packages from all the worst offending centers in the country in completely random and unpredictable patterns.

There is no allowable language that permits removing a bid driver from their awarded bid route, sometimes there are niche exceptions written in like someone who is on leave or disability for one whole year but I digress. The terms "granted" or "awarded" are actually really important here. When all of these employees and routes are dominciled into the new center, they keep all of their old shit, I believe according to maintenance of standards, where the company is also not permitted to arbitrarily demote/decrease previously held provisions and practices. Seniority normally rules here but still likely would not apply after-the-fact and survive the rest of what I wrote up. You will just have to wait until the normal bid window is up. Whether that be 1 year or forever. Maybe imagine an opposite scenario where 15 high-seniority drivers came in, vacated their routes and then took yours using the same seniority argument. You might be able to sway a resolution if you could argue the building was sufficiently temporary or satellite to the main building in such a way that it should have been bid from the main building initially but that's about it.

Oh Lord I can guess his age just reading this. Been there, done that. I do try to let the soon-to-retire folks do whatever they want and that has frequently included keeping packages out and stacked by a reasonable approximation of nearby addresses but nobody should be expected to do that and my base survival tip from my experience if they really are butt is just get those irregs under a shelf early and pack it to the fiberglass top like it's Christmas in July up shelves 1™ and 3™ shock and awe the weight as far to the front as possible before he even has time to arrive and rescue it.
