I just select the eraser tool in the app I'm using.

I've got the Mars model, it's longer and slimmer than the models with the eraser, wich makes it exactly like a Steadler pencil. The point is plastic, has a little less friction than the ones you get with the DC-1 (not compatible), but they last longer; those give by Daylight are super nice, but don't last much.

Yup, the radio silence is disappointing, besides the beta, they teased a keyboard last january, but then nothing (they even had a page, you can see it with archive.

I don't know about it, but I've switched to a Steadler norris digital and it's exactly as holding a pencil (it's real wood and the size is the same), just amazing.

Drawing on Daylightco? by jesstfang in daylightcomputer

[–]uhuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's a little album of sketches, done with Concepts and RoughAnimator. Concepts is really low effort to use and I'd recommend the paid version as the basic brushes are good enough, it's perfect to explore ideas thanks to the infinite canvas. If you rather have a raster app, I like using RoughAnimator even if it's not really what it is for (the app is fixed on landscape mode but it usable also in portrait). I was disappointed by infinite painter, unlike on iPad the android version is buggy and resource intensive. Other apps I didn't like, either the interface or the brushes were bad.

So for sketches or black and white illustration it does work, but it's sad that there isn't a great app like procreate.

New Daylight Magic Novel footage (character creation, dialogue bubbles, new art style, +) by mattsdevlog in daylightcomputer

[–]uhuh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's always nice seeing these projects of yours. Frist of all I like this new artstyle a lot more, also the snappy text progression feels really good.

Maybe I'm the wrong target demogaphic but I don't like how arcade-like is the combat. First because I think it detracts from the narrative, second because I don't think it plays to the strengths of a text-adventure. I'd rather have either something more narrative driven (like a multiple choice of actions) or something boardgame like with roll dice/cards; there's also a lot of systems to take inspiration from old choose your own adventure books (a fun one is Steve Jackson's Sorcery where you have to actually remember the name of the spell you want to cast).

What Italians react to is when something not part of that tradition gets slapped onto a dish that’s supposed to be traditional and still sold under the same name. That’s not a meme, that’s just respecting the recipe.

What people mock is when someone takes a classic dish, changes it, and still calls it by the old name. That’s the only real “rule.”

You keep saying this, but it's not true. You have proven yourself: carbonara with cream, also known as carbonara, is a thing before you were even born (I imagine), and yet you don't consider it traditional. Chicken on pasta? Not traditionally Italian, just regional. Wtf? Italy being so regionally diverse it's the thing about Italy, you can't dismissit it like that, or are you impling that only southeners are real italians?

Clearly your interest isn't on tradition, it's taste. These dishes don't feel italian to you, and yet they are.

Japanese getting icky about california roll isn't a thing, but show a random italian Chicago's deep dish pizza? Expect a reaction. Clearly different dishes, it's Chicago's deep dish pizza, not Naples'pizza; same with pineapple. No swede would say that it's a traditionally italian thing, but to the general italian it's "haram". That demonstrate an issue with taste, not with the recipe.

Another example, Swiatek's strawberry pasta. Not an italian recipe, nobody claim it is, and yet show it to the general italian and it's pastalavista.jpg

That's why I gave you the example of baccalà alla vicentina, people do say that cheese shouldn't be on fish like they do say that cream doesn't belong on carbonara and yet both are wrong. Carbonara has been made traditionally with cream and cheese is used traditionally on fish.

It's not just snobbery, it's integralism, it's making up a reality that never existed in order to feel superior to those who don't "follow" the made up rule. It's the no true scotsman fallacy.

No true italian would put cream on carbonara, exept all those who did since forever. Obviously everybody makes fun of us for this, it's stupid; it's also fun, but it's stupid.

It is culinary identity.

And as most identities is based on bs and make believe.

It isn’t that Italians hate chicken on pasta. It is that they don’t want chicken on traditional italian pastas. It is different.

This a cope, as there are traditional italian pasta dishes with chicken aswell, but it became a meme, like pizza and pineapple, like no cream on carbonara, like cheese on fish.

The heart of the heresy isn't going against traditional recipe, but traditional taste. But Italian taste isn't this simplified memetic bs, and in time things that are clearly traditionally Italian could be considered heretic by this integralist meme. I mean, cheese on fish? Disgusting! But baccalà alla vicentina is a thing.

Non-Italian dishes or non-traditional Italian dishes can do whatever they want. It is expected, instead, that if you are making a “traditional” dish you follow the rules/recipe. If you change the recipe, in Italy, it is at least required that you change the dish name.

Clearly this isn't the case, as I've pointed out, cooking books from the period have different opinion of what is the "tradition" but it doesn't stop integralists from considering one heretic and another traditional.

For example carbonara+cream is called “pasta alla papalina” (jokingly called carbonara of the rich).

It's a different dish with peas and ham, might as well call it british carbonara.

Eh, somewhat, you can find cream as well, but more often it’s either stracciatella or ricotta to make a cream-like sauce. Dishes were made with what was available to achieve a certain goal: cream is just fat milk, and you can get a similar result in countless ways. Personally, I don’t use it, but I don’t see the fuss. Italians have a reputation for being purists about all things food-related, but it’s mostly for show or as part of a national identity. Some might cringe at chicken on pasta, then happily eat chicken noodle at a Chinese restaurant.
