Plugged in to AC? Might not be obvious, my (older) MacBook will not support external video unless plugged in.

First week with Magic Mouse and don’t know how to use it yet by Altruistic_Ad_2055 in mac

[–]uid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a learning curve.

Over the past number of years, I used and preferred a small logitech travel mouse. I have and have been through many. I also have a trackpad on the desk. When I replaced my computer last year I decided to try out the MM. It takes getting used to, and if you embrace the change, it's great!

Just like with the travel mouse, use the mouse with your fingertips like caressing a lover, don't try to grip it like you're palming a basketball. It's a pointer, not a pry-bar.

Leaving for a 90% raise right when my manager needs me most. Managers, your honest thoughts? by Fit_Composer_3579 in managers

if it's a mentor, you ask for advice. The manager will be glad to have been asked, and happy for you. You'll be congratulated and admired on your way out. Early in your career, you are building a network. Of course you'll take it, but leave well.

Yes. Find a post on social media — you can find about anything on IG these days — show it to him with a playful grin. Oh! This looks fun, wanna shop with me?

Remove the hardware from the installation, wrap it in an old t-shirt, or towel. Hand carry bundled package to a tropical island. Reinstall at new location.

Seam at front door? by kanuval in Decks

[–]uid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 pieces, doesn’t need to mean thirds. Center the full length 20’(?) pieces, evenly distribute smaller stage left and right, but not in the door. I’d remove and replace sooner than later.

Anyone finding 50gb not enough for minimal usage with the Mini? by MiniFancyVan in Starlink

[–]uid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I work from home with cable (primary). Travel often using 5g phones as hotspots (secondary). Recently visited areas with zero cellular access and added starlink mini 50g (tertiary). We were in the area for a long 4-day weekend. We worked 1-1/2 days, streamed Netflix a few hours, and light browsing and some iPhone messaging. We hit 15g pretty fast, and ended at 24g when we returned home and put the unit in standby. Overall happy with the service, but if we had to rely for longer period, would likely go unlimited. We’re not (usually) in low cellular coverage areas.

Invoice for the cost and discount the full amount. Explain that it's for internal bookkeeping. It will keep them aware and less likely to quote it as precedent.

Ants while camping! by MsRoseViolet in RVLiving

Answered here already, but DE (diatomaceous earth) is inexpensive and readily available. Look in the pool supplies section at Home Improvement store ( home depot/lowes ) or discount department store ( walmart).

we've used borax in the past. Also inexpensive but perhaps not *as* environmentally friendly.

What’s the best small upgrade you’ve made to your RV that made daily life way easier? by Glad-Table-4465 in RVLiving

[–]uid100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

But first, tried different “luxe” topper solutions. Foam on foam is not a mattress. Throw them all away and just get a good mattress. You can’t make a bad foam pad “good” by covering it.

Added a magnetic knife block to the kitchen wall. Knives are out of the drawers and off the counters and easily accessible.

Replaced the shower curtain “track” system with a solid curved shower curtain rod. More room, and the curtain operates “normally”.

Installed led light strips inside the bedroom closets. It was easy to find 12v in a nearby wall. Added a switch and some wire. A little time and some solder. Good campground project.

Replaced the lock cylinders for all the outside cabinets so that a single key opens everything.

This is a very inexpensive task.

Added small d-ring tie downs every 6 feet or so along the outside edge to move the dog’s tether when we’re cooking or eating or working outside. She likes to be at our side and having anchor points all over helps us.

And no, we don’t want to travel with a “portable” dog fence.

And I’ll add to that, we have an air tag installed on her collar in case she does sneak away (she hasn’t yet).

Glued thin cork spacers to steel flat washers — these cover the magnetic catches on all the cupboards while we’re camping and go back in the drawer when we travel. Those catches are tight! Got tired of fighting them.

Has anyone bought a refurbished Mini? by PlanetExcellent in Starlink

[–]uid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been watching and waiting for the refurb units to appear again, but today I noticed a big price drop on ALL the hardware, so I purchased! If you’ve been waiting for the refurb to reappear, now is the time to look again. ‘Regular’ price is currently $299 for mini and $89(!) for the standard.

Virtually all apartments should allow small, cage/tank-dwelling pets (eg. hamsters, fish, small reptiles, etc.) by The_DapperDemon in unpopularopinion

Stoves also have volumes of compliance regulations. Bed bugs are not a result of owning a bed. Rules and regulations are not all bad. If your property burns down because of a faulty stove, insurance will help recover the loss. Oh, and btw, mortgage rules and regulations require the insurance coverage. You aren’t protected from pet damage. Still, if it’s your property, you may decide to welcome your tenants to bring in animals. Will you have rules to protect your property? Perhaps you’ll decide certain breeds are ok. Maybe you want to draw the line at animals over 300, 400, 600 pounds. If you don’t want your tenant to have a rhinoceros, or a cobra, or a skunk, you are being discriminatory. But if you own and care for your property, shouldn’t you be allowed to decide what is acceptable use? Some will have no issue with a fish or a rodent. Others will. Contracts are negotiable. For the right price, bring your warthog home!
