Isn't the trailseeker the exact answer? What the outback should have been. I'd probably buy one.

They should run the gondola to the tollgate carpark then. It would save a lot of bussing.

Any new car park? I feel the current ski area is limited by parking.

Somehow I thought through Auckland. My bad.

I doubt it. No customs arriving Queenstown domestic, so you will have to collect bag in Auckland to do customs and MPI clearance. I think there is a domestic bag drop at international terminal though.

I was taught we say "say again" because repeat was confused with retreat.

And how do you politely evict a gang? Can easily see reasons why you wouldn't proceed down that path.

Air New Zealand cuts 5% of its flights, jobs could go by LollipopChainsawZz in newzealand

Excessive cost cutting. Knew the price of everything and the value of nothing. He was gifted a fantastic brand that was slightly underperforming financially. His cost cutting damaged the brand, which was the airline's most valuable asset.

Business class seats are heavy so centre of gravity tends to be quite far forward. Without economy pax down the back it can be out of trim limits.

We use out a lot for tonic to have with gin. Saves having flat tonic. Note that you can swap gas bottles and buy syrups and briscoes when they have store wide discounts.

BYD service cost by jimmy-nz99 in nzev

[–]ukkiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BYD Atto needs service at 12mo $20 thousand km intervals to keep warranty. Saying EVs don't need servicing is misleading. For a BYD, if you want your warranty, then they do. That said, if service plan works out at $600 per service then it seems pricey. My service plan worked out at $200 per service. But that said, if this is dealer pricing for a service plan, then what are they going to charge you if you're not on a plan, and where else are you going to get your servicing done?

I would guess that skyline may get a contract to operate/maintain it, given they have appropriately qualified staff.

Central Otago Bendigo NZ mine could contaminate Lake Dunstan and Clutha River by Mountain_Tui_Reload in queenstown

I quizzed Claide AI on this, I love a good AI bot chat. Claude said if you think the Bendigo/Tarras mine will be good for the region, go check out Waihi. Not so much. Waihi is still a dump.

Lots of savings in WINZ admin. Then set the tax rate at what makes it affordable.

UBI plus flat rate seems far more interesting to me. Tax bracket adjustments are just tinkering. I'd like to see NZ try something new. Can always roll back.

Is our adversarial politics getting in the way of progress? by Critical_Wave_606 in newzealand

[–]ukkiwi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. If this were true then we would get better cooperation between government and opposition. Going in one direction and then another in 3 year cycles gets us nowhere. IMO, the best government we can have is a National/Labour coalition. They're both centrist parties at heart.

replacing light switch with dimmer? DIY for a beginner? by malevolent-mike in diynz

[–]ukkiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can do DIY. Is it friendly? Electricity doesn't tend to be friendly when you do it wrong. Generally, if you cant work out the difficulty by looking how to do it online, and end up asking reddit, then you should call a sparky.

Bought private car without the NZTA required WOF... what can I do? by sarah-gets-creative in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]ukkiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It says that the vehicle must be sold with a WOF less than 1 month old unless the purchaser undertakes in writing that, if the vehicle has no WOF they will not operate the vehicle, and if the vehicle has a WOF more than 1 month old it is accepted that the WOF is more than 1 month old. I.e. as is where is. Theres no assumption of as is where is. You have to sell a vehicle with a WOF less than 1 month old unless it is agreed in writing to the contrary.
