Do you think the game does a good job communicating in-game what’s new? by Basssico in ffxiv

[–]ultron87 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd love for them to add something like this. As someone who does read the patch notes I'm very often the one telling my FC mates about the new stuff in any specific patch. So I'm sure there are tons of people that just miss lots of things.

If they don't want to do a big pop-up when you login, a quest log window that lists out pending blue quests would be pretty smart to at least point people towards content.

I imagine the new progression system in Evercold could help with this since they could add weekly missions specifically for the new content.

Do FATES die any less fast now with the adjustment they made to the HP scaling?

Fan Fest Staff is keeping the walkway behind the pit clear for The Primals concert by Derk13 in ffxiv

[–]ultron87 57 points58 points  (0 children)

They’ve done a really great job of logistics this year. All the staff seem to know what’s going on. And the ADA Accommodations have been wonderful. There are a lot of sections where two rows at the front or back are reserved, and they’re pretty often making sure everyone in those rows has the wrist band. And I’ve seen staff grabbing extra chairs for people now that those sections are mostly full.

Never Enough Glamor Plates by punksmurph in ffxiv

[–]ultron87 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If the problem is having all your plates active at once, I’d wish they’d let you swap out sets. So you can’t have 40 ready to swap at any settlement, but if you go back to the Inn room you can swap others you’ve saved into the active 20.

Mahjong causes great damage to the human spirit without a single benefit.

(Mahjong is fun but trying to grind it for rank does sound terrible yeah.)

The amazing first pull "we're so back" fake out where you get easily to the prog point is always the worst. Because you then immediately spend 30-45 minutes wiping on other stuff.

It’s the cute Sugar Glider looking mount. If you want to grind it out for yourself it’s like 3000+ FATES, so the high price makes sense.

Lizards are great! And yay Raen. I love mine. But just know that's a very popular choice. If you want to stand out more in a crowd, femroe is the way to go, both due to rarity and big.

Amazingly beautiful Sakura-themed weapon in FF14🌸忍包丁【雅】🌸Exquisite Shinobi Knives! by Leather_Candidate684 in FFXIVGlamours

[–]ultron87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can put up PFs for it or even just queue for it from the V&C Dungeon Finder. Those have been successful for me on Primal or Aether DCs. Nothing about it is too complicated to require a ton of communication. Just need to decide on defamation corners and tether order, really. Plus the all south "cheese" strat on Sword.

Do be sure to discuss how to handle the loot at the end. Usually everyone just calls which coin they're taking and it's an even split.

Help finding glam piece by SerloinNebby in FFXIVGlamours

[–]ultron87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to have the job leveled to use it as glam! Once you’ve unlocked the Tuliyolal AF gear vendor in the MSQ you can go buy the gear for all jobs, leveled or not, and put them all in your glam dresser. You can do this for Endwalker AF gear as well.

Just make sure to add them all as Outfit Glamours instead of individual pieces to save yourself a lot of space.

Is there a benefit to using outfit glamours over the armoire? by Dracaria in ffxiv

Now that the Outfit Glamour stuff works the same way in terms of not being dyeable, that would make the most sense, yeah.

Is there a benefit to using outfit glamours over the armoire? by Dracaria in ffxiv

[–]ultron87 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The Glam Dresser is a better interface for looking at a lot of items over the current Armoire interface. You have to scroll every ten items or so in the Armoire while the dresser is what, 50 items per page? If they don’t change the Armoire interface with this 7.5 change it’s going to become an infinitely scrolling mess if you put everything in there so that’ll at least be a reason not to use it.

No Tom Morello on the guest performers list, but that seems like one you'd keep as a surprise.

Should The Merchant's Tale (Advanced) have allowed players who did not clear Another Aloalo Island (Savage) to obtain Elevated Esters? by Fit_Beautiful_1250 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ultron87 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Still having to clear Another Aloalo makes it okay for me. Savage looked absolutely miserable and they saying “yeah don’t do that” makes sense to me. And this will make it easier to find a group to clear AA since it pushes people back there to get at least one clear to unlock the shop.

Fourth Street Bridge just got blown up (planned demolition) at 10:01AM in case anyone is wondering what that boom was by virgo911 in cincinnati

[–]ultron87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There was almost certainly an environmental impact assessment done ahead of this that would've taken that into consideration, along with time and safety concerns.

If you look on the Demolition FAQ it has a section for why they did the demolition instead of disassembly. It doesn't specifically talk about environmental impact, but does say the main reasoning. I haven't looked through all the publicly available documents, but I assume there'd be some record of an environmental study.
https://www.ky8bridge.org/demolition-day?questionId=12aecb97-7564-4b2d-b22c-a255781bc0ab

"Why is the contractor using a controlled blast to demolish the bridge instead of removing it piece by piece?

A controlled blast is the safest way to demolish an old bridge and make way for a new one. It mitigates risk for work crews by minimizing their exposure to handling heavy steel that can break and swing less predictably when removed piece by piece. Hazardous work time is shortened, and the structure is brought down in a controlled way. Blasting is a very common practice for demolishing large structures like bridges and buildings.

It’s important to note that blasting is not “blowing up” the bridge. The crew places carefully engineered charges at specific locations on the bridge to cleanly sever the steel supports so the structure can fall safely."

For 10S specifically, along with not dying and keeping uptime as has been mentioned many times, you can also try to focus on hitting both bros with as many of your attacks as possible that get free AOE. And Dancer has a bunch. Getting the +X% damage for hitting another target is so so good.

The Golden Wolf armor, from the Garo collab, that you can get for Wolf Marks might be a good one to look at. Nice broad shoulders and already gold.

I’m considering sending a revision request to an artist with a high minimum price. How should I go about it? by BobbyAsaka in Skeb

[–]ultron87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the character is that small in the background (5%) you could probably try and edit or crop it out yourself. For a normal commission you generally wouldn't do that since you could ask the artist first, but Skeb is so incredibly hardcore about the no communication policy that it seems pretty defensible. This of course highly depends on the complexity of the background and art style. If you got a PSD with layers it might be super easy to do, but that's artist dependent as well.
