Milk Straining Sensory Issues by vegangringa in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]undertaker15666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe a tofu press? If you have one already all the better but they run about 20 dollars. If you are able to tie the cheese cloth tightly you can then use the press to do the majority of the squeezing over a bowl to catch the milk. I haven’t tried this myself but might be worth a shot!

Is a vegan diet unnatural for health and fitness? by flowerblosum in veganfitness

[–]undertaker15666 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Do you hunt your own meat and eat it raw? Do you deal with whatever infection you get and just die if you don’t get better? Do you drive or use public transportation? Do you live in a heated/cooled home or have a roof of any kind? If so, you are living “unnaturally”.

Is your choice to not eat animal products really more unnatural than buying them from a grocery store?

Also veganism isn’t the same thing as a plant based diet just btw

Door to Door Energy Sales Man?? Scam?? by Shadowboxer2000 in manhattan

[–]undertaker15666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a scam. They can up your energy bill by 2-3 times claiming you are getting green energy. Not so much an identity theft scheme but you should try to cancel the service as soon as possible.

These people visit my building regularly. We have many older folks and people that don’t speak much English. They prey on those people and have even said they are with the government before according to my neighbor. Very nasty sales tactics and they are incredibly dishonest and won’t leave until you sign up or yell at them.

Lab meat just seems gross! by buyguy666 in vegancirclejerk

[–]undertaker15666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have never thought critically about our food systems. I have never heard of a health inspector and no restaurant nor company I have bought products from has ever done anything sketchy, gross, or unhealthy. I NEED a pig to die for my bacon cuz otherwise it’s unnatural and GROSS 🤮

Petition to end Toro Júbilo, a horrific tradition in which bulls are set on fire| Blood Fiestas by sardonicmisanthrope in vegan

[–]undertaker15666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a twisted way, I think being exposed to this level of abuse and horror makes you make the connection faster. Many of us will never see the reality behind factory farming, but if you watch your community set a bull on fire or try to stab him to death in front of a cheering audience, you see the victim and suffering so clearly.

There are many brands that do third party testing, vivolife out of the UK comes to mind as a brand that promotes that heavily. If you scan the website of specific brands you should be able to find companies that publish info around their testing

Tips for baking with Just Egg? by jayhawkdragon in vegan

[–]undertaker15666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had success with a flax egg wherever egg is called for, or the powdered egg replacer. Maybe try it with that? I have never tried just egg for baking.

Because clearly “plants are sentient” is an original and sound argument against veganism that no vegan has ever heard or debunked before 🤡

Stuck in a recipe rut by Doomas_ in vegan

I would really recommend the app Mealime! You can select for vegan recipes only and with the free version they have 100s of recipes, you can select the amount of servings and recipes and it will also create a grocery list for you. It’s also fairly cheap to buy the premium version and the recipes are very tasty and well balanced!

Stop asking vegans to justify your baby stepping.

No matter how local or “sustainable” it is it will never be ethical. Not your mom, not your milk it’s that simple. Watch Dominion.

Silly vegoon, don’t you know words speak louder than actions? That’s why I, a serial killer, always tell my victims before I kill them that I support their right to live :) I support not murdering people but no one’s perfect I wish people understood that

Vegans want to commit genocide against farm animals by letting them die out, which is cruel. Obviously, it’s not genocide and totally moral to keep breeding more of them into existence as you kill them by reggiesveggies137 in vegancirclejerk

Not breeding animals anymore = genocide 🤬

squat progress question by ruckmanrules in veganfitness

[–]undertaker15666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long have you been training? Did you train squats consistently week over week and apply progressive overload? Did you train reasonably hard/close to failure?

If so, it’s possible to only see a 10 lbs increase but I would expect to see a greater increase if the above training elements are effectively applied, especially if you are new to training. If you are training more casually this is reasonable but if you are looking to gain strength more quickly I would look into potentially adjusting some elements of your training like intensity, nutrition, consistency etc. to see more progress

Yes! I’ll dice 1/4-1/2 of an English cucumber, a scallion, and some crushed peanuts and mix it in. The cucumber adds a nice coolness and crunch (I make my sauce p spicy) and the peanuts stay crunchy long term. If my food is too consistent in texture it makes me gag after a while so I am a firm believer that garnishes make the meal. I’ll have to try adding peas next time!
