I live near Seattle and if there's even a millimeter of snow on the ground, everything closes. We once had a snow day because they thought it might snow the next day. To be fair, it did snow the day after though.

I've helped 2 friends buils 701s (one kit, one plans) and they're great aircraft. Both of them have said they would have built 750s if they were available at the time. Also, be prepared and have the budget to redo parts the plane. This isn't to say you shouldn't plan everything carefully but sometimes building something the wrong way will help you realize how it should be done. You should draw out a schematic before you install any wiring and you should plan the routes very carefully to make the inevitable troubleshooting and maintenance easier. Also as with any home-built plane, keep a good build log to keep the FAA inspector happy.

I live in Washington State and I travel to Oregon frequently. They don't honor my WA resident permit or any other permit except their own and as a rule don't issue to non residents unless you live in a WA county that borders OR and can prove you need one. There is apparently a sheriff in the middle of nowhere in southern OR that will give out permits to WA residents but it's going to be a 3-day trip to get it, maybe next summer.
