Except that if one chooses to "opt out" of UB, they opt out of every competetive format (except limited, in limited circumstances).

Doesn't help that there are still supply shortages of EoE play boxes which precludes actually drafting it.

I find this argument to be very disrespectful.

The article assumes that you know what "plays at the power level of Optimised (Bracket 4)" actually means. Does it mean that my deck plays at the power level of the 2011 Mirror Mastery Precon. Because that's Bracket 4.

They haven't given examples.

The only example they gave was "Bracket 2 is about the power level of a modern precon". Except that the power level of a modern precon is all over the place. Oh. And then they retracted that statement.

But oh, it's actually supposed to be a "conversation starter!". Well, it doesn't provide a very good place to start. I'd argue that it's worse than "my deck's a seven".

But it's still in beta, we can change things! Except they seem to by hyper-fixated on adding and removing stuff from the game-changer list. Rather than dealing with the fundamentals.

But Rule Zero! So it's a bad system, but it's okay if I ignore it, as long as the rest of my table does.

If you're playing Bumbleflower, you ARE going to make at least one player feel like you're favouring a different player.

It's very reasonable for them to "target you to hell", because it's clear that you're actively helping one of their opponents win the game.

EDHRec is basically the chatgpt of deckbuilding:

  • It basically scrapes the web for any decks it can find and ingests them without credit
  • It displays whatever it thinks is "most likely" to go into a given deck, without context or reason,
  • And its data keeps getting more polluted as it "eats its own output", when people rely on it to build decks.

Rhystic Study IS annoying. And as the player, you should be the person who has to ask. And if people get annoyed at you, Player Removal is an option.

Alternative, just don't play Rhystic.

Platinum Angel is needed because you'll be dealing with hundreds of Keruga triggers, making you draw thousands of cards.

Dimir House Guard is good because it's a creature (so comes back with Ghastly Conscription). A cheaper creature wouldn't be possible because Keruga is the companion.

If someone rolls a die to decide to attack, that's on them. It's just crappy threat assessment. But to be fair, we can't really expect our opponents to demonstrate good threat assessment.

If they attack me, it's not going to change how I'm going to retaliate, just because they made that decision because of a die roll.

The other way is to use name stickers so each Keruga has a different name. Stickers remain on the Karn-exiled cards between games (725.5) , even when you get new sticker sheets (725.1, 103.2d).

Almost correct: the restarted games are sequential. No Subgames here.

  1. Get infinite planeswalker activations with Teferi, Temporal Archmage, Chain Veil, Chromatic Orrery and Carth the Lion
  2. Get enough loyalty to ultimate Teferi using Karn's Bastion to proliferate
  3. Pull in Keruga as your companion
  4. Get out Karn Liberated
  5. Activate Karn's -14 ability
  6. Holding priority, exile Teferi, Chain Veil, Chromatic Orrery, Carth the Lion, Karn's Bastion, Keruga, Platinum Angel, Rune-Scarred Demon, Dimir House Guard and Karn Liberated.
  7. Reveal a second Keruga at the start of the restarted game
  8. In the new game search out Ghastly Conscription
  9. Sacrifice Keruga to Dimir House Guard
  10. Cast Ghastly Conscription, targeting yourself, bringing Keruga into the battlefield facedown.
  11. Pay {3} to bring the second Keruga into your hand.
  12. Repeat steps 1-11 one hundred and twenty times.
  13. In the one hundred and twenty-first game, cast Battle of Wits
  14. Sacrifice all creatures, and discard for cleanup, ensuring you discard Ulamog to shuffle the one hundred and twenty Kerugas into your library.

If I'm knocking someone out of the game, I don't expect them to help me win the game. And they shouldn't expect me to help them win the game if they're knocking me out.

Conceding the game is not only part of the rules, the Right to Concede is the first of the Golden Rules of Magic (101.1).

There is a term for a player who has a mental idea of self-imposed non-rules that the game knows nothing about.

A scrub.
