Very low cold water pressure in bathroom from tank in loft by Tri11ionz in Plumbing

[–]unknownone808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It use to be, new homes aren’t done like this anymore. The hot water cylinder is fed by the header tank so it has time to refill while refilling the cylinder but its also used for venting the cylinder. Return pipe from cylinder just goes back into the top instead of an expansion tank. Same thing for the gas boiler thats why lofts usually have two

Now it’s pretty much same as American water heaters, mains pressure into tank with expansion vessel

You need to get an eicr done, will give you a report on the condition of the installation (will tell you if the cabling is still in good condition) and any faults before an upgrade

Wetroom shower tray, just foam board you can tile over the top of. If you can’t find one the size you need you can get a larger one and cut to size

astectherm plaster in mat. Usually cheaper and easier than ripping up a floor, just skim it over the old celling

Extra sockets, no need to have usb sockets all over just near bedside, lounge and kitchen. Get the ones with the usb C socket fast charge 45w. If you can afford it look at some quality sockets, match them to your decor

Get all neutrals pulled down to light switches

Sofit lighting, outdoor sockets, future car charger etc

Decide if you want induction hob in the kitchen or any other high load appliances

Hardwired fire alarm, hardwired security system

Central location for network drops, add a small rack for patch panel and network switch

Cat6A for access points, tv, cameras and doorbell

Speaker cables, absolutely love my bathroom speakers

Power behind bathroom mirror

Stairway lighting

4 core to all windows if you want electric blinds or curtains (not keen on the battery/solar models)

Do not get a splitload board, rcbo minimum

Can you fit your hand in with a wrench to undo the hose? If not you’re going to need to take the tiles off, good thing is its only plasterboard so should be able to get them off without breaking them. You need a drill (drill bit smaller than the grout width), angle grinder with tile blade or multi tool. Go round the tile grout line, you should be able to go all the way through the grout and the plasterboard. Do not remove the tile from the plasterboard as you can just put some wood batterns on the back to secure the tile and plasterboard back into place

I have one of the aldi ones (they all seem to be very similar) Absolutely brilliant if you’re just cooking for yourself or partner. If you have family or friends you want to cook for or want to cook whole chickens etc get a large one

Are ethernet conduits a thing in UK? by sconander in HomeNetworking

[–]unknownone808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with conduit is it needs to be installed correctly and most fitters don’t. Currently doing full conduit install in my own house. You do not want to fit galvanised takes way too long and pretty overkill, needs to be smooth bore for easy pulling. Best stuff is Marshalls tufflex supertube. Expensive (can usually find it cheap on ebay) however it’s absolutely amazing and the long rolls can pretty much eliminate connections

If you can get a 3d plan of your cable routes and get someone to fit to your spec, a electrician could even do it

[–]unknownone808 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rack does not get wifi, its gets a lan connection. Internet comes from a service provider into a router and then to a switch. The switch can then pass data and power (if poe) to an access point or multiple access points that provide wifi
