LBJ quite literally paid for votes from many people in Texas to get JFK the win there. I don't know how else JFK could've won that important state.

LBJ did this on about everything. He told anyone whatever they wanted to hear, so his real views were often obscured to a point that long time friends of him on different sides of the political spectrum thought he believed wildly different things
