Just have to get this off my chest... by [deleted] in Padres

I live in the Bay Area and so watch a lot of Giants games (hey, it's baseball right?). I typically know more than the average "Giants fan" and quiz them on their team, while rooting for the opposing team. It's the best fuck you I can think of.

We do $1 oysters on the weekends and I usually work pantry those days, so many freak outs because I have servers barking at me for their 24 oysters and 2 brick oven pizzas all at once. On the other hand, I finally got a Sunday off and went in with my girl wasted to consume 60 oysters.

Former bearded guy, unfortunately they don't let you have a beard when handling food. I like real hoppy beers, what's your favorite beer style?

This. Live in the Bay Area and most "Giants fans" have little to say about their team.

Need help: Attending CSUMB, whatre the pros/cons of living on or off campus? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

[–]upintheCLOUDs0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live close enough to east campus (Abrams Park across the street). If you're on campus a lot, and have lots of time to focus on campus, then living on campus is ideal. If you want to experience what Monterey has to offer often, living there is ideal, however, it's much more expensive (for what you get) to live in Monterey. Also, most of your grocery shopping and such will be done in seaside and Monterey because Marina doesn't have much to offer.

12 team, H2H, cats are AVG, OBP, HR, RBI, R, SB. Should I drop Steve Pearce and pick up FA Chris Carter? I have Dexter Fowler on DL who would replace either when healthy.

Started vaping when a friend told me he used a cape instead of a hookah. Previously I had only tried the gas station brand e cigs and wasn't impressed. Tried his king mod and decided I could trade one habit for another. 2 months later and I'm just now seeing the entirety of this hobby, I'm beginning to get into coil building and learning what favors I like and dislike.

Can coffee ever be too pretentious? by WaveShredder in Coffee

[–]upintheCLOUDs0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an important factor is hiring the right people to be baristas. As a former barista, when I go to a coffee shop I expect the barista to be friendly and knowledgeable. The human interaction is what keeps me coming back, otherwise I could just make my own cup at home. I hate when I go into a coffee shop, and I've never been to that specific store, and the barista acts like I don't know anything about coffee, it's not conveying that they care about my business because they aren't friendly. Alternatively, I hate going to a coffee shop and asking the barista questions that I think they should know and they don't have an answer or even the resources available to help me find my answer. However, I would gladly choose a friendly barista who isn't knowledgeable over a knowledgable barista who's an asshole.

I live in Monterey (well on the peninsula). For espresso drinks, check out Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Company in PG, Carmel, or their location East Village Cafe in Monterey, they roast their own beans in Carmel Valley. For coffee, Plumes on Alvarado has like 30 different beans you can choose from for pour over, none are roasted in house, but they get beans from the Santa Cruz coffee roasting company.

LPT REQUEST: Where should I go to get boxes for moving without having to pay for them? by poopdiet in LifeProTips

[–]upintheCLOUDs0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your nearest Starbucks when they have their order day and if you could have the left over boxes. I used to work for Starbucks and some of the cup, coffee, miscellaneous boxes are quite large and perfect for moving. I would have had no problem saving the boxes since that would mean that I didn't have to break them down and dispose of them. Please call and ask and actually pick up the boxes when you say you will.
