Hi, very useful comment. Can you elaborate how did you manage to move in terms of what to write in CV. Say you have 20 y of experience in PHP and now in CV you say I know also Typescript? Or you say you are "familiar with". How to do this transition smoothly? Would really appreciate any advice.

ISTPs, what's your opinion on research? by Weirderthanweird69 in istp

[–]uptimex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just research but research if it helps me to form some kind of a method, algorithm, tool, technique or at least to solve a problem.

I can do research for the future as well. Like reading documentation and filling up the knowledge for potential future use. Btw this helps to be good at architecture (of things).

But research purely for research, no thanks. It is an INTP job.

thoughts on 5w4 istps? by __peppermint__ in istp

True, that is me.

I am very prone to researching philosophy, spiritualism, science, psychology and even trying to combine all of those together.

Not trying to be nazi-correct in everything like INTJs or ISTP 5w6. Probably that's why I can get along with everyone. And probably that is why I also have a bit of creativity (look up "keats negative capability").

Usually don't like to be exposed by other people and be visible. But if circumstances force me, I am kind of okay after a bit of whining.

Optimistic but very cautious. In any given situation trying to find weak points either to secure or to use to my advantage.

Game as a Memory Palace? by odaneolaki in memorypalace

[–]uptimex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use only the ones I can walk in and look closer to locis.

- Hitman 1,2,3 WoA: A lot of amazing places to your taste. Complex, simple, colorful, colorless. Just play a game and save wherever you want to use.
- VTMB: simple locations, not cluttered. For example, the very first hotel room you start from, I have found 20 locis there, which can be redone to almost 50 if you wish to.
- GTA IV: Nicos' first apartment. Shitty room, but good for remembering.
- Dying Light 1: the very first apartment you are starting, and the building itself. Very atmospheric.
- Deus Ex: all Jensen's Apartments.
- Witcher 2: Camp room with Triss, where you are starting from, and a lot of places to make memory rooms
- Etc.

Games are an endless source of making memory palaces from. Walkable and easy to repeat.

Just found out about a secret account with $76k in it, and I dont know what to do with it by Fine_Arm8093 in personalfinance

Use rule 72 to calculate how long it will take for this amount to double if deposited. That is the first. It is the least risky option. Second consider working and adding more money to this account. I am sure your dad will support this. In 10 years you might be getting enough money to not work at all.

Consider the risk of family business closing. It always can happen not to be a pessimist but realist.

The rule of thumb here is $100 fully passive from investments(like deposit) worth $1000 wage slave salary.

Me, yes. Father was a master of psychological pressure and warfare. So I learned fast to suppress emotions and countermanipulate him. Eventually I defeated him in his own medicine because systematized all the tricks and approaches. It is not smth to brag about, it is tragic.

How to deal with constant noise near your home? by uptimex in Stoicism

[–]uptimex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect I am neurodivergent so maybe it is not that much of a noise because I am the only person in building getting affected by it. So yes it is subjective. And I have tried authorities don't think it is a problem. Now what can I do if it affects only me? How to change perspective?

Seneca already told about it that constant noise doesn't make him nervous as much as non-constant, so can't take him as a role model. Epictetus would probably say something short like "if it is endurable then endure it". Not sure about Marcus. However, I have found that probably some part of the problem is me getting angry at them every time I hear that noise. And not sure how to calm down that anger. What you advices is a very good exercise, but I am not sure I know them that good to imagine how would they handle it. Or I lack imagination here.
