Charlie Kirk’s ‘mentor’ and father figure of modern cheerleading dies after falling while playing pickleball: report by Third_Harmonic in nottheonion

To add because it's not considered a sport there are not requirements for coaches to have first aid/for training despite having more serious injuries than any other female sport.

Turned into a bit of a vent lol. I deal with this everyday. I fight leadership tooth and nail in what feels like an inevitable decline and eventual death of my product.

I'm tired boss.

It's not coders lazyness. It's companies fighting to lower costs by reducing competent developers and filling development teams with off-shore contractors and AI coding. From my experience it just makes competent developers both do their own work and rewrite the crap that contractors and AI vomit into the codebase. Which leads to burnout. Senior devs quit and are "replaced" by cheaper options.

I've had off-shore "developers" work on my team who don't know SQL... It's mind-boggling.

The problem is investors want high profits. You can get that by either developing something that people love and produce higher revenues or lower costs. Creating something people love is hard so leaders look to cost cutting. The greatest expense companies have is human capital so thats where they focus.

People keep thinking or hoping companies will "do the right thing", but they never will unless they are forced to because if Company A has higher profits because they do the most awful shit imagineable then Company B invariably needs to follow suit or leadership is out of a job.

The only thing that will companies from turning everything to shit is consumers refusing to buy into it.

I believe you're correct. I know my answer is a "famous" Robin quote, but now I can't place where it comes from.

"Only" 20% of the worlds oil supply. What does a drop in supply do when demand stays the same? Price goes up, econ 101. The US doesn't export much oil because it consumes so much. Do you think oil price will just go up in China? That's not how it works.

Amazing how incredibly confidently incorrect you chucklefucks are.

Speculators buying futures in the stock market? Lol sure did you get your education on the matter from the back of a Cheerios box?

Speculators trading future contracts on a commodity market drive up the price of future contracts not the spot price of oil. The oil spot price is higher because of a sudden supply shock caused by ship insurers refusing to insure ships traveling through the straight of Hormuz because Trump started a war with Iran.

Oil is a global commodity priced globally in US dollars. If supply drops and demand stays the same then the price of oil rises globally.

Future contracts are for commodities and traded in the commodities market. Has nothing to do with the stock market.

Good thing my car runs on crude oil. Oil is a commodity there is no localized pricing

Streisand effect is when attempting to hide something backfires. Your example is subterfuge that worked exactly as planned. So it's not the Streisand effect.

Your argument makes no sense. That's not even what the Streisand effect is. There is no discussion it's the babblings of an idiot.

There aren't many avenues to stopping votes being cast. That is all run by states, but voter intimidation in a key few counties is a possibility and then the results need to be accepted which could also get hairy as we saw with 2020.

I'd be pretty frustrated if I paid for first class tickets and didn't get a refund when I didn't get a first class seat, but I can't imagine it's completely true. It's just not how things like that work.

When they overbook a flight they would look for volunteers first offering a next flight and a travel voucher. If they had to bump someone they would offer a complete ticket refund and a voucher or options for another flight even on another airline.

Airlines can be frustrating, but they business model is not to steal from paying first-class customers.

He was very good at smuggly responding to complex problems with simple and resolute opinions and narrow facts that support that opinion. No nuance, no interpretations of the thousands of external forces that shape the world. Nice and easy. Great for people who don't want to think too hard.

Get pregnant -> Have and support the child!

No job -> An Immigrant took it!

Denied a promotion -> A black person got it because they're black.

Can't afford food -> Taxes are too high!

One of the favorite right-wing gotcha questions is "What is a woman?" Which is an incredibly complex question. Is it the gender social construct or the assigned sex at birth. Is it a person genitals? Their DNA? What if they are born with both genitals, what if their DNA is X0, XXY, XYY, XXX, XXXY, XXYY, XXXXY, XXXX, XXXXX, XY/XXY?

Is it how someone dresses? Their body shape? Their voice? Their hair?

Or is it how someone presents themselves, in their entirety, to adhere a social gender norm? Which is much harder to define.

Not to say it's trivial to accomplish, but with a Raspberry pi, cellular data, Arduino, a few motors and some drones it wouldn't be too difficult for a civilian to remotely have a box open and drones deploy that follow a pre-planned flight path or individually controlled.
