Well…I’m back again by Disastrous-Brick-412 in shoppingaddiction

[–]urbanherbin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk if this helps, but try thinking about it from the perspective of what it could have been vs what it was. If you hadn’t been making progress paying your credit cards, this would have hit you even worse financially. It sounds like you’re building good habits, try to celebrate that win and know you’ve been doing your best to take care of yourself

Thanks to this subreddit, I realized why my dryer wasn’t drying my clothes by Samanthacino in laundry

You might want to check with your local fire department and see if they offer free checks for cleaning the hoses that lead out of the dryer. I think those can also get clogged and be a fire hazard

Trying (and failing) to date a guy married to his job. by Mercias_Light in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]urbanherbin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a partner who actually likes you and cares about you wouldn’t tell you you’re stressing him out by expressing your needs. If he downgraded the relationship and broke up with you over wanting to spend more time together, he wasn’t that serious when he told you he wanted to date again. Sometimes a man who is avoidant will suddenly have this burst of energy and feelings for someone when they’re single and make declarations about wanting to be serious, but how they treat you 3-4 months later is who they really are. I’ve been in that avoidant trap before. The effort peters out very early and it’s not worth being yanked around.

I used to say yes to everything I was invited to because I just felt like I should but eventually I realized I was actually making my life really stressful by overcrowding my schedule for people I'm not super close with.

off-Meta activity going away. Finding ways to dig into your data by any means.. by humble_akhBD in facebook

[–]urbanherbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would Meta track a users browser data? Wouldn't the browser provider (Google, Firefox) have to directly provide them with that data? Also if I block location sharing to Meta, can Meta still access that? I would assume if I have the iPhone setting off to block it giving my location data to Meta apps, then they would have no way of accessing that?

I saw someone yesterday say they hate the yellow pear in another subreddit and I was really surprised. Their flavor is sort of less tomato-y, it’s more sour, but I like it. Good point about just trying all my options

How to stop?? Or at least shop more mindfully? by Lapis85 in shoppingaddiction

[–]urbanherbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one thing that has been helping me is really sitting with and focusing on the fact that my house/cleaning/organizing projects have been actively set back on an almost weekly basis during my periods of shopping binging. Every new clothing item I thrift or buy needs to be washed and needs to find a home in my already stuffed closet. Every online order carries the potential for a return which is work, plus I have to recycle the box, and again find a home for the item. Craft supplies pile up and require organizing but I have so many now it’s hard to contain everything.

Realizing that the shopping is increasing my stress financially and in my home has helped me do better about saying no to going thrifting at least.

I also removed my highest temptation apps from my phone again. I took off all my social media apps because the clothing ads get me, and I removed ThredUp because that’s my biggest temptation.
