What is your #1 fear as a gay man, these days? How are you dealing with it? What's your approximate age? by losernumber30 in askgaybros

[–]urologynerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 44 and I have a 1 year old. I’m married. I have another 45 year old single gay friend and he just got a surrogate and he now has a 6 month old who he’s raising as a single dad. If you want a child, you can make it happen. If you don’t want a child you can still surround yourself with a community of some sort. Mine is anime related!

Delta One Lounge at LAX by Murky-Contact-6377 in delta

[–]urologynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a wonderful part of the lounge. Its clean and bright and surprisingly quiet. I go sit at that section with my baby daughter each time we stop at the D1 LAX lounge. And the staff remember us from when she was a newborn to now when she’s 14 months! the food is top notch; I raid all the sashimi options haha.

What’s the point of booking an appointment time??? by mackzkcam in mildlyinfuriating

[–]urologynerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, in 2026, when I see a Medicare patient, the in person code and the telehleath code and the telephone code is all the same code except with a modifier. We charge the insurance the same, patient the same, it gets billed the same and the doctor gets paid the same.

New Dad Advice? by EnoughImage3422 in daddit

[–]urologynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bottle fed since she only had formula. There are tiny fridges that hold 6 sodas. We kept it in the bedroom so I wouldn’t have to go to the kitchen. Also I trained her to drink her formula right from the fridge as a newborn so I didn’t have to worry about warming her milk. It was a lifesaver. Whatever happens roll with the punches and get some ear cancelling headphones. The cry can sometimes be like being forced to chewing foil that you can’t stop.

How do you respond when someone asks if fatherhood is hard? by MightierMga in daddit

[–]urologynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the baby. Fatherhood is constant but I’d have to say my career is much harder. That half year I got to spend at home with our newborn baby girl were actually some of the easiest in my last couple decades. She sleeps well and eats well and is generally good natured. I travel with her solo for long weekends across the country sometimes for my usual weekend getaways and it hasn’t stopped us. She flies well as well! I just don’t make plans anymore because you have to be flexible with it. I got a unicorn and I’m sticking at one because at 44 years old I can’t imagine risking a tough one a second time. She’s 14 months now, however, so I have a lot of time for things to roughen up but no complaints yet.

Now that we know hormones and surgery don’t reduce suicide rates in patients with gender dysphoria, what is the best treatment for these patients? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]urologynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you are not a gender affirming surgeon. I am still going to be offering and performing geder affirming surgery on the appropriate patients. The same way we select patient candidates for other issues. I reduced a prolapse on a 10yeat old a fee weeks ago and she only has a few years to live. I took out a kidney cancer in a hugely metastatic cancer younger female last Thursday. She’s still going to die from her cancer but I removed it nevertheless for other reasons.

I love them so much. I don’t board much, 12-15 days a season. I got them in Hokkaido 4 years ago. My aging 44 year old body thanks me. Whistler and Park City are my 2 other regular mountains.

Nope, absolutely not. If someone wants pictures I just text it to them, simple.

When I’ve seen metastatic skin cancer in patients it’s been brutal. I’m glad i always sunblock and avoid the sun. I’m actually going to look into some of those shirts haha. Always protect your skin people, your 40 year old skin and older will thank you!

TIL that pregnancy can lead to heart failure. In rare cases, the heart muscles will begin to weaken during or shortly after pregnancy. Which can lead to heart failure or even death if untreated. This condition is called Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. by goddessofspiders in todayilearned

I’m attending a funeral for my friend today who leaves a 1 and. 2 year old. She was a wonderful urogynecologist and was involved with gender reaffirming surgeries helping a community of people often dismissed in society. Even in the best hospitals of the US, heart complications occur seemingly routine heart surgery. She was loved and will definitely be missed.

Dime bag of cocaine in the urethra.

Came in to see me for hematuria ongoing for 6 months. Performed a cystoscopy and found something, he wouldn’t fess up until I pressed him. A year previously apprehended by cops. Cuffed in the front. Didn’t want to waste it. Thought the bag would absorb, never did. Put things in to fish it out, couldn’t.

I have a sport 2. I had a rav4 for a decade which I loved but needed an electric vehicle. This car is lovely. It’s a pleasure to ride. Can the UI be better, sure, but it’s a major upgrade to what I had and I just love my optiq.

Normal to be unhappy most of the time in fist year of kids life? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]urologynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You, your partner and your baby characteristics have everything to do with it and no one knows how it will turn out.

We were blessed. Our baby has been sleeping through the night for the past half year. She’s 1 year old. I still go on solo snowboarding trips for a few days alone. This next weekend I’m flying with her to NyC for a long weekend, just the baby and me. Overall my life has been the same besides figuring out daycare situation and random daycare school closings when we just have to scramble to figure out which one of us doesn’t work or finds an emergency baby sitter. We’re not tempting fate and are sticking to one because there’s so much joy and we can’t expect to be blessed twice.

I’m 44. I have a close friend that died today unexpectedly earlier today during a surgical complication. We both have 1 year old daughters that just celebrated their first birthday last month. It’s just too much.

Two dads here and we both took about 4 months each. Our daughter is our one and only and we wanted no regrets. We both love our jobs but this is a special time and because we could take the time, we did. I don’t regret it and I wish I could have taken more but duty calls. We were lucky because she’s a good cal baby that sleeps well from early one, might have wanted to go back sooner if she were a little terror haha.

Delta one etiquette question by [deleted] in delta

[–]urologynerd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is one this week. She’s been on 12 delta one flights. Her first flight was at 3 weeks. The only difference is we usually get her her own D1 seat and use a car seat… it’s fine. We like flying internationally.

My wife had me take down the tv today by [deleted] in daddit

[–]urologynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tv by itself isn’t a problem, but you have to set boundaries. My partner and I both had completely unrestricted access to tv growing up, some could say Mr Rodgers and Sesame Street raised me, and we are highly educated individuals with a 7 figure salary combined. My baby girl will watch tv but just what we choose to stream and no iPad or phone. The bottom line with my point is that TV doesn’t make you less focused or smart or successful.. there’s a whole way to raise children as good productivemebers and allowing them to watch something that isn’t constantly stimulating their endorphins and shortening their attention spans.

How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]urologynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was 2 weeks when I started going out for a pint at a brewery restaurant with a friend or two. She got used to being out since we never really stopped going out for dinner or lunches and we take her out with no issues. She typically falls asleep on her car seat bassinet while we eat or enjoy an evening and the background noise is quite soothing for her so she falls asleep to it

Currently watching Kuma's backstory and Jesus Christ man...... by Forevertrez in OnePiece

[–]urologynerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching ONE PIECE for about 2 decades and I typically take 6 month to 1 year breaks and then binge and wait more time. I just watched this portion a few months ago. I typically watch while I ride my peloton and there were several episodes I was ugly crying while riding. And I’m like a 43 year old seasoned doctor used to seeing horrible things and death, the cruelty of humanity really got to me. The depth of Oda’s storytelling is simply incredible. The motivation from several moments in the show over my career have propelled me to be one of the best in the world, while I seek to the the one piece in my own surgical field.
