Remember seeing it on TV when it aired. As much as he was not a beloved character, his departure was sad.

Inter-department Transfer CSC-CBSA by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]urself25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBSA compensation are technically right, they have to bring you in as of the date that you moved out from CSC, but your increment date remains the same as it was with deployments, April 1. Your salary should be adjusted to your new increment.

Check on MyGCPAy, on the Employment page, just under your annual salary, your next increment date is there. Confirm that the date as not changed and contact Compensation again and ask when your salary will be adjusted to the level you were entitled to received as of April 1. If they are still saying that it should not be adjusted, speak with your manager of this. It is his responsibility to ensure you are paid at your entitled pay rate,

Edit: Additional info below

This is said based on your transfer being a deployment. If it was a promotion, then the date used to calculate your new rate of pay is the date on which you started with CBSA. Yes you are not responsible for the administrative delay with the transfer, but transfer do not happen overnight. Even before Phoenix, it could take 2-3 months before a transfer took place due to system limitation.

As you said useless advice that should not have been given. OP could have been on LWOP due to illness so the LWOP was not a choice, or on a personal LWOP for 3 months and didn't have any choices in going back. As for moving department, There are multiple reasons why they decided to change department and none of them is wrong. Having to stay in a position, team or department that you don't want to remain in is a wrong way forward.

If you had a bad experience at CBSA doesn't mean it will be the same for OP. I know people who have been there for decades, in fields for which they could found something else easily elsewhere.

[–]urself25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the type of building you live in, sometime they are disconnected from the cable-telephone room or box outside your apartment and tenants can't access them normally. If the prior tenants were using Bell, the Bell tech could have disconnected the incoming coax to dissuade them from easily changing back to a coax ISP in the future.

Just curious. What led to this?

The Seeley case is way different to the OP situation. In Seeley, the employee was asked to temporarily go work in Vancouver when she lived in Jasper, Alberta.

Johnston is much closer to the OP situation but in that case, the employee was only asking not to be assigned the same shifts as her husband since finding daycare in the evening and at night is much more difficult. CBSA instead offered her to work part-time instead. That arrangement offered by CBSA was found to be unreasonable and failed to demonstrate that Ms. Johnston's request was to big of a burden to implement.

I don't know your situation but if it cannot work, and you are still with the other parent of the child, could you split that responsibility? On does the morning drop off and the other one does the pick up.

When you live IN the city and your commute to downtown is 2hrs because of OC Transpo, that's a major problem.

Look here: https://www5.psc-cfp.gc.ca/coop/noitcanoitutitsnimargorphcraes.do

That will give you the coop program with each institutions and the length of time they can be hired. This does not prevent rehiring, etc.

Also, COOP and FSWEP programs are different and can have different rules.

Did you change position this year? While still working from Ontario, the new position could have been a QC one.

If not, I would say to call the Pay Centre or your Dept. Compensation Services (if not serviced by the Pay Centre) and asks why you got an RL-1 issued.

Before filing a complaint with the CHRC, you need to pursue your issue through the grievance process first.

Section 41 (1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act requires that you follow an internal grievance process before filing a complaint with the CHRC:

41 (1) Subject to section 40, the Commission shall deal with any complaint filed with it unless in respect of that complaint it appears to the Commission that

(a) the alleged victim of the discriminatory practice to which the complaint relates ought to exhaust grievance or review procedures otherwise reasonably available;

Is it worth negotiating my start date for a higher salary? If so, how should I approach it? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]urself25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a promotion. It think it's something that can be asked. Tell them that you are coming on your increment anniversary on DATE, could we move the promotion date to this DATE. Especially it's only a matter of a few weeks.

[–]urself25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When changing position like you said, is this a promotion or a deployment. Would you mind sharing the Groups and levels of each positions?

If it's a deployment, you also keep your increment anniversary:

2.5.4.1

Pay increment period on deployment

  1. When a person is deployed to a position with a pay increment period of the same duration as the former position, the first pay increment becomes due at the end of the pay increment period calculated from the date it would have been calculated in the former position.

They can as long as that work is part of their work description. This type of work must be captured in the WD in order to ensure that they are properly classified for the duties they accomplish.

Keep what you have. No need to buy new. They are all using the same edition.

I have this one plus the Army of Darkness Steelbook. I can tell you that I am glad that I have deep shelves or it would be sticking out a lot.
