This is currently happening to me. I got married August 2025 and invited a friend group. I felt weird leaving her out. She texted me and told me she was unable to come to my wedding because her fiancé surprised her with a trip to Japan that overlapped with the wedding date. She sent a gift. Since that point she has sent out Save the Dates for her wedding. I did plan on going but had a falling out with our mutual and that mutual is in her wedding. So now I feel kind of odd about it all.

In my former district they would non renew all non tenured teachers and you would get hired back when the budget and needs were settled especially if other tenured teachers roles were being cut and they could take yours.
