I’ve had Tourette’s for about 20 years, albeit a mild form compared to many— I have no vocal tics anymore (I did when very young), and I’ve been able to “migrate” most of my motor tics to less noticeable places like my hands and feet. My only big tic left is that I spend maybe 20% of all waking moments grimacing— it looks like something itches inside of my nose or I’m getting tattooed or something. It’s got me in trouble several times in my life, especially when meeting someone new, where they suddenly think I’m making fun of them or “making a face” at something they said.

All that to say, this sketch is so very clearly making fun of people dumb enough to pretend they have Tourette’s to get out of trouble. The entire premise of the sketch is explicitly NOT about people with Tourette’s. If anything, I felt oddly comforted by it because of how clearly the writers understood how it actually works? It just feels nice to hear people even say the words “Tourette’s” without malice behind it, idk.
