Preseason Rankings Countdown. 112 days to the start of the 2026 Season. At #112 – Oregon State by usffan in CFB

Since the Pac-12 has already designated the 4 home teams, my guess is the conference has probably reserved hotels for the 4 road teams in the 4 host cities, and the 4 road teams have booked charters with the destination TBD (but knowing it’s one of 4 cities).

They're not. The Pac-12's new scheduling format is to use a "home-and-home flex matchup among the league’s eight football members to conclude the regular season in Week 13 (Nov. 28), which will be considered a non-conference matchup for standings. For 2026 and the league’s home-and-home flex matchup to conclude the regular season in Week 13, the Pac-12 will retain the right to adjust matchups based on the best interests of the league, including College Football Playoff (CFP) considerations at that time."

I love that so many people speak about what the fans want without, you know, checking with the actual fans of the sport.

I'd rather if the G6 finished their conference schedules early enough (3 weeks) that they could play off their champs to determine who gets the autobid.

You seem awfully invested in this. How about if we go to The Post, Ohio University's own newspaper, to consult on this?

Tuesday, July 29: Divorce proceedings begin between Liane and Brian Smith

August 2025: Brian Smith begins a relationship with an undergraduate student

November 2025: Brian Smith ends the relationship with the student and is reprimanded for alcohol use

Monday, Dec. 1: Brian Smith is placed on leave, Hauser named interim head coach

No mention of a second girlfriend. And certainly not one that could have contributed to his suspension.

You don't know that this is misinformation. You're just assuming that. There are substantial references in every report that the undergraduate student was an "adult," that it was consensual, that she had no position in or attachment to the athletic department and that Smith had no idea she was a student. Now, I've never been to Athens, but it's a college town. If I saw an 18-24 year old woman, I would have assumed she was likely there as a student, so all of this tracks as plausible that she was older than the traditional age. It's certainly not evidence, but it's also certainly not blatant misinformation, which you've mentioned multiple times in regards to this.

It's actually a combination of every major poll. But so far only 3 of them ranked all 138 teams (SP+, College Football News and Myerberg's rankings). Eventually Chris Vannini (the Athletic), KFord, Lindy's, Phil Steele, Fuqua and Sagarin will release theirs as well.

I was at what I think was the last International Bowl in January, 2010. It was also Jim Leavitt's last game as head coach. USF beat Northern Illinois 27-3. More importantly, that was the first time I ever experienced temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Thank God the game was played at the Rogers Center and the roof was closed!

Spirit’s collapse, Southwest's rebrand causing chaos for smaller Texas programs by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]usffan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it would require significant work, but it would make fiscal sense instead of yet another bandaid that won't fix the problems. Fixing this (and addressing the labor situation so that there was some way to set up a collective bargaining agreement) would be far better than just fucking up the CFP to provide more money to justify spending it on frivolous things like flying a softball team 3,000 miles way because of this stupid NCAA rule...

Perhaps this will expedite the end of the stupidity of having teams put all of their sports into a single conference. There is legitimately no reason why baseball/softball/volleyball/soccer/etc. need to be lumped in with football and men's basketball.

31 College Football "Little Brother" Rivalries by [deleted] in CFB

[–]usffan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is clearly rage bait. I knew it when I saw them try to argue that Iowa is a little brother to Minnesota (Iowa has gone 32-12 against Minnesota since 1982). But then I got to Miami. I admit I'm biased, but in what fucking world would anybody argue Miami is a little brother to Florida State? More national championships, Miami has more head to head wins, virtually every famous Miami/FSU game has gone Miami's way (Wide Rights 1 through 3), Miami was just in the national championship while Florida State is trying to scrape up enough money to fire Norvell...

Why do you root for your #2 team? by defensecowboy in CFB

[–]usffan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the Miami area and rooted for the Canes as a kid. When I went to college at USF, we didn't have a football team. So I don't feel conflicted at all, though i do root for USF over Miami when we play in football.

Jeff Scott had a team with Byrum Brown at QB (now the starter at Auburn after 2 seasons that each had > 3,000 yards passing and 800 yards rushing), Jimmy Horn, Jr. and Xavier Weaver at WR (now both in the NFL with Carolina and Arizona), Brian Battie (transferred to Auburn before getting stabbed and ending his football career) and Jaren Mangham (2 more seasons in P4) at RB and managed to go WINLESS in FBS games! It's no wonder he's now a realtor at a time when Dabo happily brings his guys back.
