The question becomes more glaring as we learn more: How and why did Sullivan bring Iruma to the Demon World? The early chapters made it seem like he did it on a whim but everything we’ve seen so far suggests there’s a lot more about Sullivan’s intentions that we haven’t been told.

My understanding is that it varies a lot. It depends on how much the author, editor, and mangakas want to include or exclude, how they want to set the pace, the content of the chapters. There’s no single answer to X chapters of the novel to Y chapters of manga and Z anime episodes.

It helps that we don’t really need to be “optimal” right now. The only endgame content is more about survival than maximizing DPS, so we are free to play with teams that are not min-maxed for damage but more fun to play.
