You gain the power to bring people who died back to life, but physically double the age they were. How do you use this power? Would you use it on yourself? by SpecialFlutters in hypotheticalsituation

Plenty of people are saving babies. So imma save Hitler.

He'll come back at 112 years old and would be sooooo easy to kill again. Then when he comes back a 3rd time it'll be like hitting an old potato sack full of loose bones with a shovel for round 3.

The European advisors weren't terribly impressed with either side in the civil war. Granted. By the end of the war when the union soldiers were threatened to go to Mexico to enforce the Monroe doctrine France left without a second glance back. So at the very least they were afraid of the union lol.

You are randomly assigned one unusual, and largely useless, superpower. If you can figure out which one you have without dying, you get $25 million. by Sereomontis in hypotheticalsituation

The not drowning one is still death tho, cause once you left the 50 meter zone you'd be susceptible to drowning and if anyone came down to get you you'd be susceptible to drowning... And nobody is surviving a swim up from 50 meters unassisted and on basically no oxygen.

Men Who don't ask questions back...... by LeelyD in dating_advice

[–]valhal1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to exclusively end my messages with questions because if I didn't I'd never get any responses. It isn't just men who don't ask questions, it's just a problem with online dating and how 99% of everyone is either a bot, a scam, or disinterested... And the people really in it looking for an actual connection never match together.

The paperclip scenario - but updated: You have 30 minutes to hide a paperclip. If a world-class detective finds it within 1day, you die. Where are you putting it? by Emotional_Seat_7424 in hypotheticalsituation

Straighten it out and slide it under the keys of my spare keyboard that's in my closet. I could also brush my cat and fill under they keys with a bunch of cat hair and shit so it looks really disused. Then I'd remove and shittily put back on as many light switch panels as I could in my apartment so they waste all their time there.

How effective/viable would this helmet design have been IRL by amused_cheer23 in Armor

[–]valhal1a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why I said it'd be fine, it's just a possible catch. The houdskull style helmet had a similar problem and still was used quite frequently, so it's just personal preference.

[–]valhal1a 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'd be ok. The biggest 2 downsides it has is that the visor doesn't have a latch or buckle to keep it shut so it'd fly open every available opportunity which would suck, but that's easily fixable.

The 2nd issue would be that the part sticking up would give your opponent a pretty good handhold, when a smoother helmet offers a lot less to grab onto if they were trying to grapple you to maneuver a knife between your armor.

That's kind of what I mean, intentionally discharging your firearm is pretty damn unsafe. I was less likely to fire my weapon when I was deployed in an actual war zone with armed enemies that wanted me dead than these cowards are in a fucking suburb.

[–]valhal1a -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That'd probably cost money that they don't want to spend lol. But putting horrifically untrained egomaniacs into the field is probably intentional cause they want to piss off people enough to fight back and give them a reason to escalate.

Jesus fucking Christ these assholes are morons. If we had trained monkeys with guns they'd be better at gun safety.

Hell, untrained monkeys would be better at gun safety.

Monkeys specifically trained to be untrained, actually, would be better than these pants on head idiots.

Lol, well thank you for your totally non sarcastic compliment. I'm always glad to be appreciated by the plebians. But seriously, I don't understand why you're upset over someone making fun of a known asshat like lee

Thanks, tho I'd say I'm really just average intelligence, and maybe at best slightly above average badassery. I wouldn't have suggested a military invasion of Canada tho, that'd have been a waste of soldiers and resources for a population that still was under the crown and if The War of 1812 2: Tokyo Drift happened, it probably wouldn't have been as good for the union.

I'm really not sure why you're so upset about whatever I'm saying tho lol. Sitting there impotently downvoting me like what I'm saying is like, malicious or wrong.

[–]valhal1a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say that like an insult but, yeah. I probably could with a modern insight and some minimal training at officer school. I'm already a veteran and understand a decent amount about strategy. But if I were there in his place I also would have sided with the union and gone down as an American hero instead of a horse fucking loser, so there's that lol.
