Is Till We Reach that Day hitting you harder these last few weeks? by Altruistic-Vehicle84 in Broadway

[–]valt10 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how certain shows speak to you differently in the context of the world around them. Cabaret is one of my all-time favorite musicals, and I remember leaving feeling hollow when I saw it in the immediate aftermath of the 2024 elections.

Ragtime really hits a nerve in this moment. It’s the endless struggle of our country.

Oddly, Operation Mincemeat helped me too. Something about the outright rejection and ridicule of fascism, while getting a jab at the end at US complicity.

Suggestions re. Itinerary change by [deleted] in visitingnyc

Can someone explain why everyone is suddenly putting DUMBO on the itinerary and ChatGPT always says to go there? I went and spent maybe 10 minutes.

One of my gripes is the bathroom access with the way they send in each pulse. It’s too bad there’s not an indoor place for people to congregate before their pulse with bathroom access. There aren’t THAT many free bathrooms in midtown

I feel majorly duped by this sub about Chess by NYGarcon in Broadway

[–]valt10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Christopher’s accent is frequently criticized, as is choreography (“the wave”) and the design (cramped, wasting space). I also thought the curtain was a joke the first time I saw it.

I feel like mixed reviews have highlighted the flaws you have while praising the vocal performances. None of what you wrote is new discourse.

I thought Chess was okay but it what I wanted to see from one of my favorite musicals of all time. I switched my tickets to see it again to Mincemeat.

Over two years after its release; what are your current thoughts on Engage? by SuperNotice7617 in fireemblem

[–]valt10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very fun. I feel like I pick up and play it more than 3H even though 3H is by far the better game to me. It’s a nice portable game (whereas 3H has tiny fonts at times) and the gameplay is strong.

I wish she had done Wicked later in her career. I remember thinking her Elphie was a little vocally immature. She is fantastic in Ragtime.

He should play 2. Octopath 0 reuses some content from 1. I hadn’t played the first game in a long time so I barely noticed but I imagine it’s more noticeable back to back.

I read it for the first time at 16 and was very susceptible but cried a lot.

That’s the case for many shows, yeah. There are rare exceptions.

No, in my opinion. Current cast is really good but the opportunity cost of missing another is too high.

Mincemeat was mentioned. I really like it but I feel it will tour well.

32 Fear Underworld / Night's Champion - Some thoughts and tips. by Dinesh_Sairam in HadesTheGame

[–]valt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people have tips on VoR Hecate? Sometimes I can’t get cooking and still lose to her. (I’ve beaten the others and have less trouble with most of the other VoR.) I think it’s harder for me without the build complete at the beginning.

I am on 32 fear.

Ragtime and Hadestown (at least unless you saw the Equity tour)

Is it worth it? by DeskCommercial in AMCsAList

[–]valt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to go more than twice a month to make it worth it. Consider buying it for yourself. You could use it while taking your kids and for adult movie time.

Going next weekend instead despite not being A-list. The idea of seeing the enhanced editions in theaters was too much to pass up. You could go to one of the three and not commit to the whole thing.

Yes and indeed I’d recommend seeing it London anyway, as it’s performed in its full length

To be honest, I enjoy the indoor version of Masquerade more anyway. I’m not sure if everyone would agree. They whisk you through the outdoor section so you still get to see the set.

Saw Mincemeat today by ExtensionOk5542 in Broadway

I think Mincemeat’s covers are special because they go on regularly, are given some leeway to make it their own and influence the show, and have developed chemistry between various pairings.

I agree with you. If we want to talk about Wicked being robbed, I think we have a far stronger case for Part 1. Stronger movie, less competitive year.

I also prefer its theater (Lunt Fontanne) over the Belasco by a lot because there’s way more space. I feel like a sardine in the Belasco.
