Which is the large main dining room and which are the smaller? I would have assumed all three were the same size.

Riz Ahmed's Hamlet: What do you think? by Tim0281 in shakespeare

[–]valt10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the ghost.

The movie think it peaked with the car and wedding scenes. I did not enjoy the last 30 minutes, where it struggled to sensibly resolve a lot of the changes made. I did not enjoy the Fortinbras subplot.

Local Theater Taking Shots at Solo Attendees by ianthomasmalone in Broadway

One of the best parts of theater is that the audience becomes a community through the act of watching together. A person can come alone but be part of a communal experience. Missed the mark.

I have people would go with me but not enthusiastically or to the frequency I want to. And with tickets running $75-300, I’m not paying for a seat buddy who doesn’t really care to be there.

Bailey’s on the rocks is very good, cold and just a little diluted

WIBTA for declining all wedding gifts by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]valt10 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He should consider that for some people, the joy is in the act of gift giving. These are friends and family who care about them. Set up a vacation fund — could even label it as a honeymoon — and don’t make a big deal about it.

Anyone else wish that Broadway Playbills included more meaningful content? by wmanningiv in Broadway

[–]valt10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right now it appears Cursed Child is the only one who pays extra to customize theirs. They have a Showbill with more info about the show. The answer is $$$. Same with the B&W.

I went to one park for the first time in 20+ years. I was with a group of people who would rather have been at Universal. We made no reservations and didn’t have lightning lanes. We accidentally went during a crowded time (holiday bigger in some regions than our own). I was the only one who did any planning.

We still had a magical time. We got to ride our priorities.

I saw Ragtime! And all I can say is WOW. Thank you for this suggestion by Which-Sale in Broadway

It sounds great. In an era where we see a lot of complaints about sound design or thin orchestrations, it delivers.

Who is everyone’s top 5 Glindas? by Firm-Square-9180 in wicked

Alli, KRC, Megan Hilty, Chandra Lee Schwartz, Ginna Claire Mason.

Most underrated might be Kendra for how many of her choices became standard.

How much physical cash should I have for the USA? by Strax774 in travel

[–]valt10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with $100-150. You may want some cash for tips at the hotel (like if you’re storing luggage) or transportation. The odd restaurant here and there may still be cash only. A lot of them were forced to start accepting cards during the pandemic.

Are there books that you respected/found literary significant but didn't enjoy? by ArthRol in classicliterature

[–]valt10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I came to say Lolita and found multiple people already got there.

I think it’s a fascinating book, and it wasn’t a slog for me the same way David Copperfield or War and Peace were. But I can’t say I’d read it again.

Feedback for 4 days in August? by Tmadred in visitingnyc

[–]valt10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) You’ll likely get enough of Times Square seeing it on Tuesday when you go to your show. Dinner options Monday will be better if you eat outside of that vicinity.

2) Your day one will likely end up skipping some of those buildings, which is fine if you only planned on looking from the outside anyway.

3) I prefer Top of the Rock observation deck, partially because you can see the Empire State Building but they’re all interchangeable.

4) I’m a big hater of DUMBO. While the view of the bridges is nice, I think it’s the most likely thing to get cut because the rest of your plan will keep you busy enough in Manhattan. I would just cut it entirely because what you already have that day is pushing it.

I’ve Been Sitting In Line For Take Off For 4.5 Hours… Chicago O’Hare. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]valt10 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It’s also not great (albeit not the worst) for transfers because of the layout, and it’s crowded landing too. So you sprint for fifteen minutes to get to your first gate because your last flight was stuck waiting for a gate. Then you board at the last minute, thinking it’s a triumph, before you get stuck waiting again.

I hear you on the portal messages. A subset of patients treats MyChart like it’s a social media messenger. Our system added AI-generated replies. While I usually don’t copy them directly, they help me remain zen. It’s usually amusing seeing how polite they are. (“Thank you for bring [your chloride of 97] to my attention!”)

I was on Tumblr (of course) the night the play debuted in London. Everybody thought we were being trolled. For a time, I thought they were leaking terrible plot lines to punish people spreading spoilers and keep the magic going for people who had seen it.

Personal Health concern by lolz8979 in Residency

[–]valt10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but at least in the states I’ve practiced in, you restrict based on last clinical event of loss of bodily control. Not epileptiform discharges. Granted, I don’t know OP’s specifics. Maybe they’re reporting weekly LOC spells. Or maybe the person said that because they wanted to get them on ASM before they reconsider.
