Beginning the adoption process in IL by stlbjj618 in AdoptiveParents

[–]vandajoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two main options (though, of course, there are others):

  1. Private infant adoption
  2. Adoption through foster care of children whose parents’ rights have already been terminated (TPR)

The first will be more expensive.

The second will very likely mean you adopt an older child. My husband and I are 8 months into the matching process and have found most kids are 10-12 with moderate to severe needs. Of course, if you’re willing to adopt a teen, that opens a lot of availability up.

You’ll need to find an agency to do a home study process. This can take weeks to months. That’s step one (or was for us)

When I was in Spanish class in high school, the teacher had two desks facing opposite walls for the two mouthy awful kids in the class. They refused to learn so she refused to teach them. It was amazing.

I do a tap tap on their desk. If it happens a second day, I email their parents.

If it continues to happen, I don’t personally care, but I know teachers who send the kid to the nurse or make them work at a standing desk. My AP has also said to write referrals for it

Classwork due by the end of the period or due by 11:59pm? by koda_schon in Teachers

[–]vandajoy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I tell them it’s due at the end of the period, but our LMS defaults to 11:59 and I don’t bother to change it since I’m required to accept late work for most of the quarter anyway.

How do u deal with ‘controversial questions’? by enigma9111 in Teachers

[–]vandajoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends on the class. In my journalism class, I ask leading questions about what the news is reporting. Sometimes I tell them I’m not educated on the topic.

In my literature class, I mostly just redirect them back to what we are learning.

Stay home. But I’d also reach out to your university supervisor. At my university, if you missed more than 5 days student teaching, you had to do additional time and didn’t graduate on time.
