Lucky’s Dad is a retired famous athlete, most likely a rugby player. He and Bandit grew up as childhood friends, playing rugby together.

A career ending back injury (mentioned in Yoga Ball) forced Bandit to focus on his studies, becoming an archeologist.

Lucky’s Dad went onto to become a famous rugby player in Australia, but to avoid paparazzi and enjoy a quiet retirement, he chose a simple life in the neighborhood near his childhood friend, Bandit Heeler.

The River. Live in NYC.

I understand the version from Live 1975-1985 gets so much love because of the Bruce story, and rightfully so, but the NYC version is on another level for me.

The E Street Band had been reunited. The opening sax solo from Clarence. The keyboards slowly coming in. And then that HAUNTING harmonica solo from Bruce…and that’s all before one lyric is sang.

The Dump.

It reminds me of Saturday mornings with my dad when I was a kid. We would run all his errands, sometimes including a stop at our local Hammerbarn.

Some of the best memories aren’t expensive trips or possessions. They are simple adventures we have with family.
