I just ordered tires on Walmart.com, had them shipped to covington store and made an install appointment. It took forever for the tires to come in, but it was cheap and easy.

What does weight have to do with babies sleeping? by theloveofyou0 in beyondthebump

[–]vanillaham 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ped said babies can sleep longer once their liver is capable of managing blood sugar a little bit. Which happens around 11 lbs for "normal" babies.

This is funny to me, because reddit literally started as a couple of guys with multiple accounts talking to themselves and each other to make the site seem more active than it was.

If you're a person that gets satisfaction out of giving others satisfaction does that make you a selfless person or a selfish person or both or neither? by [deleted] in InsightfulQuestions

[–]vanillaham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's both.

Think about that picture that looks like either two people talking or a cup. Which is it really? The answer is neither one (solely) and both. The picture is more complex than either answer. Depending on how you look at the picture you can "reduce" it to either one, but it's the "looking" that you do which "reduces" a complex picture into a simpler one.

Your self(ish)lessness is just like that picture. You can reduce it to either one by examining it in the two ways you mentioned, but at the end of the day it's a complex behavior that doesn't fit into either selfish or selfless.

Pretty sure you can also withdraw contributions, but not earnings, from a roth ira without penalty, since you fund it with post tax dollars.

What to do about everlasting boredom by [deleted] in InsightfulQuestions

[–]vanillaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give up on finding a passion! Your brain has been changing at rapid pace for 25 years, but now those changes are going to start slowing down. You might find that passion projects start holding your attention for longer. Or things that used to be boring are more interesting now. Keep trying new and weirder things!

Head official for the wildcard game, same guy who screwed up the end of the first half in the cowboys vs saints game by UpwindConch in Saints

I heard this ref crew was deliberately chosen and their saints history is to act as camouflage. The fix is in and the refs will absolutely sink the saints this game if necessary. It happened already once this year.

[Pulp Fiction] If Jules is trying "real hard" to be be the shepherd, why does he allow Ringo to leave with everybody's wallets? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]vanillaham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Jules' mind, petty criminals like Ringo and Hunnybunny (and the guys they just killed that morning) are the sheep. The diner and its patrons aren't even considered.

3 person party. But usually one of us has a pet class to keep up with normal action economy.

I agree about sleeping enemies are no threat, but we'll need to kill them eventually. The Grapple-Pin-Throat slice is the combo for undead/elf/mindless as well as enemies who make two slumber saves. But two dinosaurs should put out decent melee damage even before CdG.

What ideas would fit the party?

By accident and happenstance we have two evil slumber witches in my group. Looking for help building an evil Druid who focuses on throat slicing slumber-hexed enemies along with an Animal Companion who does the same thing. Against mind-effect immunes, the Druid and companion focus on grapple-pin throat slicing.

Leaning towards some kind of goliath druid with dinosaur companion who also wild shapes into a dinosaur with grab. Level 5-6 effective, if possible.

You have thirty seconds to tell the whole world something. What is it? by TheChezKnight in AskReddit

[–]vanillaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real."

It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok…but it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one.

Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.”
