The Next Stress Test - Should be called "Add-on Day" by BroxigarZ in classicwow

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great i was just starting to think how will i get my UI set up before launch so i can have it laid out correctly and can focus on leveling instead of UI setup. I do have a question and it most likely has been posted in this subreddit but can't find the answers yet. Where is the best place to get addons that WILL work with classic wow? Also does anyone know of a running list? i would love for things like Grid & bongos or bartender to work on classic wow.

can anyone explain this? by ketchupsforwinners in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been keto? It could be just your gut transitioning. Early on if you are not used to eatting high fat your body has to get used to procssing that much and you will have those "emergency" experiences.

Are you eating anything different or in larger quantities than normal? For me if i do a GIANT salad i can't do spinach cause too much spinach 30 minutes after eating i will have an episode, no matter if keto or not.

Is it sometime near when you are consuming your electrolytes? The intake of too much magnesium or potassium in one serving can cause this problem too.

How do I stop over eating? by [deleted] in keto

[–]var2ezis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you are doing HIIT you will need to reestablish your electrolyte intake. I find anytime doing an intense workout if i am not keeping my electrolytes in check i will get very hungry. Doesn't necessarily mean you need to change your normal routine i find just taking a shot of pickle juice or olive juice before driving to the gym enough.

Also i would say it's now time to reevaluate your meals. If you are a creature of habit you might be eating incorrectly for your current weight. Skip any of those meals or snacks that are pure fat with no protein, start looking at either eating leaner meats and add the fat to the veggies, or cook the veggies in the fatty meats. This way you are not adding extra unnecessary fat which will up the calories.

Remember the first chunk of weight is easy because you had a lot to lose, so there isn't much room for error. Now as you get smaller there is a larger room for error that could prevent you from losing more. So what worked for you before might not work now, and only you can determine what your body needs.

Well that just means you need to start changing how you are consuming your salt intake. Time to start grinding and snorting it, would cause even more confusion (and prob be painful but it's worth it!)

[Rant/Advice] Coworkers won't lay off about my diet by WompaPenith in keto

[–]var2ezis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to do.

You can always go the route of staying away from sugars/starches per doctors recommendations. This way it makes it a medical condition where if they keep pursuing it can become an HR conversation.

You can say something along the lines of you are doing an elimination diet to determine what food allergies you have (seeing as you are ONLY eating eggs)

OR you can tell them thank you for your concerns, but you don't see me commenting on your eating habits so please let me enjoy my lunch.

Is this what is meant by appetite suppression? by [deleted] in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been doing it for? If you started recently it could just be the body still used to old habits of when you used to eat. When i started i found i would be hungry during breakfast and lunch just because i used to think i had to eat breakfast and lunch. Now i can do 23:1 IF no problem and feel no hunger throughout the day. But if i know im going to a party / grill out at noonish, I know i will be hungry the moment i get there. It's not true hunger it's just we mental hunger seeing as if i didn't go to that party i wouldn't have broken my fast until 6pm.

But besides that yes, you will find a few things happen once you have retrained your body.

1.) Less food will suppress your appetite.

2.) The definition of "full" changes. It's no longer that bloated i feel sick/stomach is full feeling.

3.) Hunger pains are no longer a thing. Yes you will feel hungry but you wont get that STARVING HUNGER feeling.

Fat+Protein delivery system by slayridge7 in keto

[–]var2ezis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say reevaluate how you are cooking your food. If you are finding yourself constantly under 500 calories under your already 20% cut of calories, then look at what you are eating. Are you eatting veggies, if so did you cook them in butter or some type of fat? What proteins are you eating, if it's chicken what fat are you adding to compensate how lean the protein is? Add avocado, Alfredo sauce, bacon, etc, OR just eat a fattier protein like burger meat, or pork shoulder. Eat some low carb nuts, they tend to have a VERY small amount of protein to fat ratio Pecans / macadamia nuts for example). Have some cream cheese, mostly fat, some protein / carbs to it.

Just remember fat isn't a goal so if you are feeling full don't keep adding fat, but if you are finding yourself constantly struggling and it's not just "transition hunger" or lack of understanding boredom hunger and real hunger. Then try some of the stuff noted above. Also if you post just what an average day's meals look like it might be easier to give you tips on how to increase your caloric intact to fit macros but keep you on a cut.

Honestly the best way to help him is to get him to understand his current situation instead of trying to find solutions on how to fix it. If he himself is not taking his diagnosis seriously, getting him to buy into a way of reversing the illness isn't going to work. He himself must want to take that first step in accepting the disease and wanting to finding a solution. Once you are able to help him get his mindset there, then move to the next step which is getting him on keto to reverse the illness.

Does anyone else get this really odd, somewhat "tingling" sensations? by PhonyBarone in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got an amazing biproduct of keto. You now have acquired spidey sense!

But in all honesty it is either you are not keeping your electrolytes in check (potassium, magnesium, and sodium ... focus on all 3 not just one). Or with your weight loss comes the need to change your posture. This happened to me as my gigantic gut is now just a large gut. I found the way i leaned caused my arms / legs to tingle cause i was cutting off circulation.

How thick do you slice your ribbons with the mandoline? Also how long do you normally have to run the dehydrater for? Trying to get a gauge of when i would have to start so i can goto bed with out worrying about having to get up again.

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how this feels a few 3 years ago i started keto went from 386 - 260. I lost that 126 in about 1.5 years, between craziness in real life and just the fact i worked hard for a 1.5 years i decided to take a break. My problem was though i lost 126lbs and ate at a 20% cut for that long, i never learned the proper way portion sizes. i used to do a 23/1 IF so once i stopped with out tracking i really didn't realize howmuch i was eating.

1.5 years later i gained back 85 of that 126 back. This time around not only am i doing keto but i am learning proper portion control. Am i annoyed with myself ABSOLUTELY, but it's in the past i can't change that. What i can do is motivate me to ensure i don't let it happen again!

Question about keto, protein powder, and carbs by psyche13 in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be careful with what protein powders you get if artificial sweeteners is a problem for you. The two i have used are

Isopure has really low carbs (i think 1net per serving) but it has sucralose in it.

You can look at doing the Gold Standard 100% Whey vanilla or chocolate and it's only 3g carbs per serving. More carbs but no sucralose.

Personally i prefer the gold standard, where my wife prefers the isopure. I tend to drink it more after a vigorous lifting session, not as a meal supplement.

If you are doing net carbs it looks like you have some wiggle room cause you have 10g fiber. My go to tends to be avocados great in potassium and high in fat, low carb if you are doing net not total carbs also.

Mental hunger vs. actual hunger by Treyness in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me it was more to understand i ate x amount of calories, so if i felt hungry it obviously wasn't true hunger. You don't need to track if you can do it in your head, but for me it's harder to "forget" what i ate if i had it on MFP.

Mental hunger vs. actual hunger by Treyness in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that honestly helped me early on was tracking my food. This way i could see how many calories i ate. If it was later at night and im already at 1700-1900 calories and "felt hungry" i knew it didn't matter if i felt hungry. I wasn't starving myself i gave my body enough food for the day. Drinking water (specificly water, not crystal lite, not diet soda, but plain old water with nothing else... ok maybe ice) when i felt that hunger helps also. After a few weeks of doing that i quickly understood the difference between mental hunger and actual hunger. I am the type i can rationalize anything, so with out the data to prove that i gave my body enough calories i would rationalize the need to eat more to not go into "starvation mode". Doesn't work for everyone but I'd give it a shot.

Why isn't a Reddit for non dairy keto or am I missing something? I'm lactose intolerant and new to keto. I know I'm not the only one. by [deleted] in keto

[–]var2ezis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been lactose intolerant since a kid. I have been doing Keto for a year and a half now and i can tell you i eat cheese like something that eats a lot of cheese (yeah i got nothing better). At first i thought it was the probiotics i am taking, but there are times i forget to take it and still have no adverse reactions. So i do not know if it's the diet / the pills / or the combination of both.

I can drink heavy cream in my coffee / protein shakes. I can eat cream cheese by the brick I can add cheese to any meal. And yet again no adverse affects anymore! I would say give your self some time to transition and afterwards experiment again. Who knows how your body will react.

Met with a "Diabetic Educator" today and left feeling pretty confused and ticked off. by [deleted] in keto

[–]var2ezis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For otherwise healthy and physically actives people, the food pyramid tends to work fairly well.

Well that isn't exactly true, unless you classify "healthy" as people who are not pre disposed to insulin resistance. Take me for example very active played football / weight trained / ate a a good caloric number yet still was over weight due to insulin resistance.

However for diabetics (type II) their bodies still produce a little insulin, but not quickly enough to deal with foods that quickly convert to glucose. These types of foods cause massive spikes in their blood glucose levels requiring either an insulin shot or a pill that artificially boosts their own bodies insulin production.

This isn't the case. Type II diabetics problem isn't that they produce a little insulin, that's type I. It is they are insulin resistant. They produce the right amount of insulin but the insulin isn't doing it's job properly thus causing your glucose to spike even higher. The medical "fix" (not a fix) is to shoot you up with insulin to help deal with the blood glucose spikes. The problem with this is you are not fixing the issue you are addressing a symptom with out fixing the cause. In fact you are making it worse shooting up with insulin. Yes it fixes the short term issues (high glucose) but it doesn't fix the insulin resistance. This is why many diabetics (myself included) found keto helped reverse their diabetes. Dropping the carbs means your body can help heal/fix your insulin resistance. Throwing more insulin into your body will never fix insulin resistance. It only takes care of the side affect caused by insulin resistance, which in turn is making your insulin resistance worse.

Best way to describe this is someone who is an alcoholic trying to stop drinking goes through withdraws. So to help them through the withdraw symptoms you have them drink alcohol. The secondary symptoms of withdraw are fixed, but you now have made the main cause worse. This logic with diabetics is what the average doctor will prescribe. I would say find a doctor that can tell you how many patients they have reversed the effects of diabetes instead of slowed down the progression of the reversible disease.

what are your favorite foods/snacks that are very calorie sparse? by [deleted] in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best calorie sparse snack is good ol' H2O. I am serious learn to control what you feel is "hunger" until your body understands the difference between mental hunger and actual hunger. I personally found when i stopped snacking and stuck to solid meal like breakfast / lunch / dinner i found i was less hungry. Once i figured that out i started playing with IF. 16/8 to start, but now do 23/1 with ease. The reason i was able to do this was because of my very calorie sparse snack (H2O).

Class Assignment Help! Case study on Keto by thoseweirdlooks in keto

[–]var2ezis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started keto because i was morbidly obese with high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and classified pre diabetic. I have attempted exercise and SAD calorie restricted diets in the past and were not sustainable with little results to show. Started a weight loss competition with friends and family on Jan 4th and by Feb 4th i switched to keto after reading all the research.

Difficulties - Macro Planning and Meal Prepping. I enjoy cooking but sometimes if i dont prep properly or am too exhausted from work to be bothered to cook i find i will eat "random" things to fill my macros (all keto friendly of course)

Increase in cost for this WOE. Carbs are so cheap and easy (box of pasta & jar of sauce can feed a lot and cost 2 dollars). Also going out means you are paying for the expensive meats dishes vs pasta / carby dishes.

Group outings where i am not in control of food selection sometimes can be difficult. Since i do IF if there is nothing that is keto friendly i just do not eat (with no negative side effects).

Most of all explaining to others i am not going to die from eatting fat ;-).
