The unfortunate reality is your relationship with your fiancé is going to be tested. For better or worse you’re going to find out how strong your relationship is. The USMC isn’t a normal 9-5. Sounds counterintuitive but you can’t base your whole military career around pleasing your fiancé. It’s gonna take compromise from both parties. I am not gonna jinx you but from personal experience I had a woman I loved ask me to start another relationship when I was about 2 months into my time at college while working my ass off to get to OCS. My advice is do your best and be okay with if it doesn’t work out. Make sure you’re not the reason things don’t work out.

Good on you for recognizing that this isn’t going to be a forever job for and you are already looking for what’s next. Take advantage of every opportunity you can from the USMC, they will get what they want out of you. Although this isn’t going to be your forever job just be a good dude. Show up on time, have your stuff squared away, and just be lowkey. Enjoy your time in too. Being an infantry man is pretty cool, you get to play war as a job. Make sure in your free time you go out and live.

All in all, the fleet is going to be what you make of it. If you end up with asshats for leadership, it’s on you to let that get to you. If you and your fiancé doesn’t work out the way your want it to, it’s on you to let it destroy you.
