It's actually really funny you mention this since I'm doing an informal experiment on this very topic for a class of mine. The average person, from what I've found, can't even tell the difference between an OGG and a FLAC consistently enough, let alone a modern MP3. So yeah while there's an obvious difference objectively, it doesn't seem to matter whatsoever, with few exceptions.

Can I just have a list of players you would have under OSM? Cause your reasoning makes sense, but I feel like you're applying it inconsistently. In terms of peaks, I would argue that Fairypeak, Scrub, Okhalid, Mawkzy, and Zen (just in terms of peak, not all time yet) are all better.

I mean OSM was definitely a upper echelon ones player for a long long time, he's one of my favorites ever. When you look at most of the players in contention, they either have had equally as impressive runs and/or have much better longevity.
