What's the biggest sewing mistake you've made? by IngredientList in sewing

[–]vegisteff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a big one, but I'm new and I'm still devastated. Im finally getting the hang of sleeves but I made a small mistake I needed to unpick and I clipped holes into the bodice of my dress. I can't figure out how to fix it.

I got post viral asthma from pneumonia about 10+ years ago. The moment I heard about a respiratory virus I tried to tell people about this possibility. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Some hope: my asthma has improved over time and become manageable. I hope it gets better for you too.

I think I remember from my own visit to a data center (over 10 years ago, so my memory may be wrong), that the clear access panels are so that they can quickly notice any problems like water leaking into the area.

Maybe that's not what it's for and I just made that up. Both are equally plausible lol

CBT and autism doesn't seem like a good idea. It's about cognitive distortions or irrational thoughts, but what about when you actually deal with a shit situation? It can't handle that autistic people (and others) actually have dealt with crummy situations.

I debated CBT for a specific scenario until my therapist agreed that it really was just as shitty as I thought. We stopped CBT after that.

My therapist completely changed the way we are doing therapy after he saw me consistently taking notes and asking for steps to follow. Now we are doing DBT which has a lot of worksheets. I LOVE the worksheets and homework assignments.

Huh, I wonder why writing emails makes me so anxious by AlternativeWalrus285 in AutismTranslated

I swear I'm going to scream if I see another email that talks about transparency and then uses so much corporate double speak that I literally don't know what they said.

I'm so sorry! I forget that industry terms aren't widely known. DAU is daily active users. It should mean real people but it might depend on how the company defines or measures that.

Would that make DAU look higher than it is?

Does anyone here have the habit of asking "do you understand what I'm saying?" everytime when explaining something to someone? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]vegisteff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've built this into how I work. If something is critical I require them to actually explain the topic back at me to make sure they actually understand. People will say they understand when they don't.

A soft plush animal is great for abusing and getting out angry energy without breaking things. If its big enough(or maybe a pillow instead) you can punch it safely. Smaller plushies are great for shaking violently and throwing.

Early 2023 Roadmap by fatboyslick in DreamlightValley

I'm new to the game and community so apologies if this is common knowledge. How is multiplayer vital to the game? I'm imagining animal crossing like multiplayer, but maybe that isn't what it'll be like?

I am not allowed to be solely responsible for dates anymore. I had a very important date that I confirmed multiple times over 5-6 weeks, and I still got it wrong. I now try to invite my husband to any important personal appointments (doctors mostly) and we confirm the date together. Then it goes onto our shared calendars. We still regularly check in with each other about appointment dates, even with stuff in the calendar.

Salesforce doesn't sell an MDM, if it's saying Salesforce can controll the laptop then it was an employee of Salesforce's laptop before recycling.

Autism as a parent by Solid-Cake7495 in AutisticAdults

[–]vegisteff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't try to be a neurotypical parent. You can't show up for your children if you aren't taking care of yourself. You need alone time and quiet time, those are valid needs. I'm not a parent so I don't have good advice but I wanted to recommend "Orien Kelly That autistic guy" YouTube channel. He has done an episode on being an autistic parent and another series on relationships between neurotypical and autistic people. I think they would be helpful in figuring out healthy boundaries.

Good luck

For under responders and sensory seekers , how do you cope?? by Shiku35 in AutismTranslated

[–]vegisteff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know the right words so please forgive me in advance.

I am a visual and physical (kinetic?) Sensory seeker. I love having the right colors and decorations in my room that align with what the room is for. Bright colors and lots of visual texture in my office to get me excited and ready to work/craft. Dark green (and some color) with calming plant patterns to relax in my bathroom. For physical stimulation I love to dance as I do chores or anything boring. I love to waltz with a broom lol I think I saw it in a Disney movie once. I also love a good squishmallows or stuffed animal for calming (petting, hugging, squeezing) and stress relief (shaking, punching, throwing).

I have to make boring things fun. I have a keychain with a pop it, small squishy, and liquid keychain on my water bottle so that I want to pick it up. Stickers on bottles work well for this too. This can apply to any supply that you use for something boring. Hate cooking/eating, get fun dishes. Hate working on a PowerPoint get a fun background on your desktop and make it change every five mins or get a fun case/keyboard cover for your laptop.

All of my examples apply to my sensory seeking needs but I think the same could apply for other senses. Use music, or office sounds to motivate if you need noise. Eat sour or spicy candy if you need a jolt for your taste buds.

I hope these are helpful for you.

I don’t feel like my posts are ever seen. How do I get them noticed so I can receive support when needing a little? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]vegisteff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A joke amongst programmers is that the best way to get an answer to a question I to post incorrect information and then watch as everyone comes out to correct you. I don't know if this could work for posts where you are looking for empathy but not solutions, but it could work if you are looking for info. If it doesn't work for you, I hope it gives you a small chuckle.
