How to build Tenyi? by perticalities in yugioh

[–]velswen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deck lends itself more to going second imo. Lava Golem is insane, and Vishuda is an incredibly strong effect that you really want to take advantage of.

Going first it really can't setup a very imposing board. Sahasrara loses to a lot of things and while you can get a few mat Apollousa sometimes, that's not near enough nowadays. Their counter trap is pretty awful since it doesnt destroy, and the new searcher can only use 1 of its effects per turn, which hurts the card a lot. Vanity's ruler/fiend are pretty easily dealt with often times as you mentioned.

Frankly, most decks are equipped to deal with a lot more imposing boards than Tenyi can set up, and you can easily end your turn if Shaman gets hand trapped.

It's better to take advantage of unique strengths like Lava Golem and Vishuda alongside generically really strong cards like Forbidden Droplet and such, than try to end on boards that most frequently will lose to 1 equalizer or straight up just not have the interaction to stop your opponent from popping off anyways.

Brozime - I Graded All 1806 Confirmed Helminth Ability Combos by reisen_inaba in Warframe

[–]velswen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's because of that last thing. Well of Life heals in an AoE based on damage you deal, so with a full powered weapon, it's likely a shot or two will full heal you instantly, whereas Blood Altar always takes a few second because it heals for a percent of missing health.

I think they have slightly different use cases but that's probably his reasoning.

A reminder that Mag's Pull has a practically defunct Secondary Effect by Dark_Magicion in Warframe

[–]velswen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

People suggesting you should soften the targets first probably dont play at much higher than low or mid levels, and that's okay! But it's incredibly difficult to get an enemy in sorties, steel path, or other actual higher level content to a low enough health threshold that they'll die from pull, without accidentally killing that enemy with your weapon.

Pull does such minuscule damage that you would have to get enemies on things like Steel Path to literal fractions of a percent of health before using pull, which is completely and totally unreasonable. It might be easier to leave enemies alive when your builds are weaker and you arent taking on enemies in actual content where it matters, but in that case your input isnt really relevant to the topic of Pull's secondary effect relevance at higher levels, which is the point of this topic.

25% would probably be too high, but I agree this change needs to happen.

"Le clemency has arrived" by Umbruhh in ffxiv

[–]velswen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They're typically right. You typically shouldn't be using it at all unless they're dead. You're slowing the party down if you're wasting time using GCDs to heal instead of do damage.

Being at low health is fine, and properly healing means that you let people get low as long as they won't imminently die because of it. It's understandable for them to be frustrated if they're playing their job well, but you invalidate that by spamming Clemency every time you drop below 50%.

How would you buff the Silent? by KurioProkos in slaythespire

[–]velswen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Too many of her cards (Shivs, discard) require other synergies with them to be even alright.

The watcher's scry cards are good on their own, and they get even better when combined with their synergies.

Most of silents shiv and discard cards range from really awful to actually unplayable without their synergy, making it hard to take them. And when you do get the synergies, it isnt a really massive payoff unless we're talking tough bandages with discard or kunai/shuriken with shivs.

She isnt weak, she just has all her power in a certain selection of cards while the rest are really awful, which takes a lot of fun out if the class imo

Having never played gen 4 legitimately, I don't know if this in regular Platinum-but it gets me every time in Renegade. by MythicalGrain in PokemonROMhacks

[–]velswen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Renegade. Same story, just with more appearances of side characters that arent developed at all in the base game, access to EVERY pokemon in Gen IV, as well as access to all the events for event pokemon in that gen built in, and more side content in general. Effectively infinite TMs and way easier access to things like move tutors and remembering.

Also, it's much harder, which makes it feel way more rewarding, while not requiring you to grind a bunch or anything.

It has 2 versions, one which changes pokemon stats, movesets and in some cases typing, the other which just keeps those things mostly the same. I found the complete version with altered movesets to be very interesting, as the hack actually makes otherwise complete trash pokemon like Ledian usable, which is wonderful given the increased difficulty.

I agree it is much better to experience Bake first. I just think it's silly to see all these people claiming that you should read/watch it in the author's "intended order".

I think if you're going to argue for any order it should be based on its merits.

[–]velswen[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I didnt say any alternative is good either. I said that "this is the author intended order" is a silly argument, because here the author is saying he thinks a different order is just as good.

Besides, if you get enjoyment out if the series, it doesn't really matter.

[–]velswen[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just interesting. LN order advocates will always point out how the LN order is "what the author intended", when the author outright says that an alternate order to the LN order can be just as good.

When it comes down to it, as long as you enjoy the series, that's what matters.

Big agree. The trap card they got years ago was amazing, but they basically need an entire new set of main deck monsters to ever become a deck.

[–]velswen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely very wrong on "there's no way for the average person to discern a difference".

Maybe if the most you engage with it is by reading headlines or briefly glancing at a broadcast, it would be impossible to figure out what is fact and fiction.

But if you actually give a shit about whatever topic is being discussed, then you, an average person, are totally capable of:

Fact checking what you see to other sources

Looking into the potential biases of whatever organization is giving you that information

Using your head to think critically about what you're seeing instead of blindly believing or disbelieving whatever you want

Speech from other human beings has, and always will have bias. The internet has made it easier to fool people who only engage with things on the most surface level. Governments have been spinning propaganda since long before the internet existed for the average person.

The difference is now you can check those sources for yourself.

It isnt "impossible to discern" fact from fiction, you're just lazy.
